The Kansas City Chiefs’ dream to win the Lombardi Trophy has come true due to their superstar Patrick Mahomes’ football IQ, resilience on the field, and determination to prove his worth. The legendary football player acknowledged that his motivation to stay in shape came from watching the seven-time Super Bowl winner, Tom Brady.
While the narrative behind Mahomes’ fitness has already been unveiled by the Chiefs’ starter, the storyline behind his on-field success was unknown to the NFL community until he recently shared it along with his prowess in spot-on game predictions.
Mahomes wows with spot-on predictions
Entering his seventh NFL season after taking over the spot from Alex Smith, Patrick Mahomes surely gathered a pool of experience that he was motivated to display during his appearance on ESPN’s Manning Cast for the Denver Broncos vs. Buffalo Bills game.
The two-time MVP told Peyton and Eli Manning that he thought the Broncos would run the ball twice before executing a play-action pass on third and short to score six points. This prediction was made as the team got closer to the end zone.
“They’re gonna run it twice and a hard play action on third and short that’s going to get them a touchdown.”
Shortly after making his enigmatic predictions, the Broncos twice passed the ball to Javonte Williams before Russell Wilson found Courtland Sutton in the end zone corner for a touchdown, according to Overtime Heroics.
His spot-on predictions on football showcased the level of football knowledge he has bolstered, leaving the football world in awe. Perhaps the NFL community will find it difficult to find out the field in which he struggles, as he recently broke Dan Marino’s record.
Patrick Mahomes reveals game-day ritual
In “ManningCast” Patrick Mahomes was asked about his game-day ritual. The revelation was shocking as the 28-year-old made it plain that he used to wear the same pair of red underwear every game and it was at first provided by his wife Brittany Mahomes.
“First, my wife Brittany got them for me, so I’m not throwing you all down, but I have to wear them,” Mahomes said.
The rationale behind this crazy idea was nothing but his success in his first season, wearing the red underwear.
“At the same time, I threw them on that first season, we had a pretty good season that season.”
The legends kept revealing that he has to struggle much putting his beloved underwear on when the Chiefs have to undergo a tough schedule. Yet, every time Patrick Mahomes manages to keep his superstition going.
“I only wear them for game day though, so they’re not too worn down, they’re not like these nasty (underwear), I clean them. I wash them every once in a while at least. I mean if we’re on a hot streak, I can’t wash them, you know? I’ve just got to keep it rolling. As long as we’re winning. I’ll keep the superstition going.”
Though it sounds crazy, the superstition appears to be going well for the Chiefs this season. After winding up a Super Bowl-winning season, under his guidance, the Chiefs currently sit atop the AFC with a 7-2 record.
