The Kansas City Chiefs started their Super Bowl run on Sunday with a preseason tilt against the New Orleans Saints after going down to 26-24 following the last-minute interception that gave Derek Carr’s squad a chance to convert a short field goal on the way to victory.
Patrick Mahomes started the game, albeit he played only one series before being relieved by Blaine Gabbert and Shane Buechele. Though the Chiefs couldn’t secure a victory, a feat from Buechele still gave their star player Mahomes quite a bit of relief.

Shane’s day against the Saints didn’t start well as he managed to complete his first pass of the day, a 13-yard completion to Rashee Rice. However, he didn’t lose hope and bounced back stronger in the third quarter after finding Justyn Ross for a phenomenal touchdown.
Mahomes couldn’t contain his happiness to see the former Texas gunslinger dodging a sack to then finish with an incredible eight-yard touchdown pass. Pat was especially happy as his backup actually emulated his play style on the field.

The third-year quarterback out of SMU also credited the two-time MVP for his excellent athleticism against the Saints.
“Just a little scramble drill and the guys did a good job of working for me. Just playing football, man. Just playing football — and I have a good example in front of me where I get to watch him make plays.”
The backup star recorded 155 yards, two touchdowns along with an interception on 11-for-18 completed passes while playing under center for most of the game before the fourth-string player Chris Oladokun appeared on the field for the next series of the match.
