The Kansas City Chiefs superstar Patrick Mahomes’ haircut is popularly known as a ‘mohawk fade’, albeit some people call it the ‘Show Me cut,’ inspired by the two-time MVP’s nickname. Mahomes has maintained a similar hairstyle over the years and didn’t make any huge changes except some minor ones.
Though Pat’s haircut didn’t really have anything to do with his two Super Bowl titles in the last four years, once his barber DeJuan Bonds claimed his contribution in the Chiefs’ signal-caller’s recent success. Bonds has been doing the hair of the Chiefs quarterback ever since he completed his rookie year in professional football.
Chiefs’ barber’s decision helped them to win Super Bowl
Back in 2021, Mahomes along with more than 20 Chiefs players and staffers was scheduled to get their haircut done by Bonds following Demarcus Robinson and Daniel Kilgore. However, the Barber tested Covid positive and the franchise decided to pull him mid-haircut when the test results came.
There were over 20 Chiefs players and staffers, including QB Patrick Mahomes, scheduled Sunday to get a haircut with the barber who tested positive for COVID, per sources. The Chiefs acted wisely and aggressively, and pulled the barber – mid-cut – once his test results came in.

After Kansas City’s Super Bowl defeat to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that year, DeJuan claimed the franchise lost because he couldn’t perform his so-called ‘haircut ritual’.
“When we were in the last one, since we were in COVID, they had set up a barber setup for me at the Arrowhead facility, but I caught COVID, so they couldn’t get haircuts. So Pat went to the Super Bowl busted – no haircut. That’s why we lost. ’Cause he didn’t have a haircut.”
Nevertheless, the barber successfully performed his usual haircut before Super Bowl LVII on the Chiefs signal-caller. That time around, the 27-year-old won the second Lombardi trophy for his team on February 12, 2023.
How many Super Bowls has Pat Mahomes played in?
After getting drafted by Kansas City in the 2017 NFL Draft, Mahomes played three Super Bowls and won two of them (Super Bowl LIV and Super Bowl LVII).
The Chiefs scored 21 fourth-quarter points to snatch victory over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV and their starting QB Mahomes recorded 286 yards, two touchdowns along with two interceptions, earning him his first MVP title in the league.
In Super Bowl LVII, Kansas City covered up a 10-point deficit to defeat the Philadelphia Eagles and the 27-year-old dual-threat won the Super Bowl MVP accolade once again.
Nevertheless, they got defeated by former NFL veteran Tom Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers squad 31-9 in Super Bowl LV when the two-time MVP couldn’t manage to score any touchdowns to go along with two interceptions.
The Chiefs are a favorite Super Bowl contender this year as well. Pat alongside other players on the roster frequently said they have moved on from the last victory and have been working relentlessly to ensure back-to-back Lombardi trophies for the franchise.
