Chiefs WR Rashee Rice faces $1M lawsuit for his involvement in Dallas car accident

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice is being sued for $1 million by the victims of a crash in Dallas. The lawsuit alleges that Rice and another football player engaged in a high-speed race on a heavily trafficked road, resulting in severe injuries to multiple individuals.

The victims’ injuries, as detailed in the lawsuit, include trauma to the brain, facial lacerations requiring stitches, contusions, disfigurement, internal bleeding, and other internal and external injuries. These injuries may require extensive medical treatment and rehabilitation.

According to reports, Rice was driving at a staggering speed of 119 mph in the moments leading up to the multivehicle crash, which left at least seven people injured. Police later charged the 23-year-old player with one count of aggravated assault, one count of collision involving serious bodily injury, and six counts of collision involving injury.

In response to the situation, he released a statement expressing remorse and taking full responsibility for his actions. The Chiefs’ Super Bowl-winning receiver surrendered himself to Glen Heights Police on April 11 after police issued an arrest warrant against him for finding marijuana in his car. He was subsequently released on bond after spending time at the Tri-City Jail in DeSoto, Texas.

As the legal proceedings continue, with his off-field issues, his participation in the Chiefs voluntary workouts has become a topic of discussion.

Will Rashee Rice join the Chiefs’ voluntary workouts?

Rashee Rice will be taking part in the first phase of the team’s off-season conditioning program virtually.

Head coach Andy Reid addressed the Chiefs receiver’s status during a press conference on Monday, confirming that he will participate in team activities via Zoom.

“Yeah, so, there’s no real participation other than by Zoom, so he’ll participate in that,” Reid said, per SI.

Reid also shared that the team will wait for the legal process to unfold before making any decisions regarding Rice’s future with the organization.

Rice’s presence on the field has been crucial for the Chiefs, particularly following Tyreek Hill’s departure to the Miami Dolphins. His contributions played a significant role in helping quarterback Patrick Mahomes secure back-to-back Super Bowl victories.

With the Chiefs aiming to make history by winning a third consecutive Super Bowl, the team will undoubtedly be eager to have Rice back in action for the upcoming season.
