Almost a year has passed since Argentina’s World Cup triumph in Qatar. The Inter Miami star and MVP for the 2023 season, Lionel Messi, has opened up about the journey and how his image has been transformed in the eyes of the Argentine people following his heroism in the World Cup.
In a recent interview for a Disney+ series titled ‘Champions, a Year Later’, he revealed, “I feel it’s a triumph for me to have changed that situation and won over all the people of Argentina. Today, 95% or 100% of Argentines love me, and that’s a beautiful feeling.”
According to him, the successive glories in Copa America 2021 and World Cup 2022 have helped him win the hearts of Argentines, who perceive the forward as an icon and, of course, the greatest of all time.
However, the glory didn’t come easily; Messi and his team faced numerous heartbreaks, including the defeat in the 2014 World Cup final and several eliminations in the Copa America, to achieve this feat.
