Chris Jericho expresses gratitude to fans following championship victory

Chris Jericho vs. Hook for the FTW title at AEW Dynasty was unexpectedly under-watched by the audience. Ignoring Jericho’s iconic position and fan devotion, many feel his time in the ring should come to an end. However, it didn’t stop him from taking to social media to express his gratitude to the supporters who rallied behind him throughout the match.

Chris Jericho beat HOOK with a controversial baseball bat hit after several failed tries with his Judas Effect elbows to win the FTW Title at AEW Dynasty. But HOOK was strong and refused to give up, so Jericho said sorry and then hit him one last time with the baseball bat to win the title.

Taking to Instagram after a tough win, Chris Jericho thanked the AEW fans for their support and called out Hook for particular recognition. He posted, “Thanks to all of you who believed in me and cheered me on tonight in #StLouis and at home, as I WON the #FTWTitle from @730hook at #AEWDynasty tonight! Your love and encouragement took me to new heights and helped me to beat #Hook, who was at his best tonight!! #TheLearningTree promises to give Hook and all of the @aew talent who are in the #JerichoVortex only the best lessons.”

But, as we already said, a lot of fans were unhappy with how the Master of Judas Elbow acted in the ring during the fight. Even after the match, several supporters continued to tweet their wishes for the beloved star’s graceful retirement.

Social media buzzes with Chris Jericho’s retirement calls

During the FTW championship match, chants of “GO HOME, JERICHO. GO HOME.” echoed through the arena, signaling fans’ desire for Chris Jericho’s retirement. Moreover, many disappointed and frustrated fans took to social media to demand his quit.

If someone missed the chance to chant the “retire” chorus at the arena, a few of them said on Twitter that they would have, like “abbi.”

For some, it was Jericho’s repeated appearances in AEW that stoked the flames of animosity, while some requested him to hear the crowd’s voice noting, “Listen to the crowd please. They told you everything.”

The overwhelming number of tweets including the phrases “retire” and “Go Home” shows that fans are eager for Jericho to leave the ring. The tremendous amount of negative feedback led some to suggest that AEW take a break from Jericho’s live programming.

Given the number of negative tweets, it is noteworthy that none has explicitly asked Tony Khan to think about Jericho retiring. Do you think the 53-year-old should quit the ring now? Share your thoughts in the comment section.

Oh, hi, this is Md Robin Ahmed, a WWE fan and I everyday go through a slew of popular WWE stories on Sportszion. Watching Big Show's Showstopper was the beginning of my passion for WWE, though I have to say that his Chokeslam is not one of my favorite moves. Over time, my love for professional wrestling has intensified, mostly due to the Shield, and my all-time favorite wrestler in WWE is Big Dog. I would give everything to be able to be within a few feet of him to witness his iconic Superman Punch and Spear. My major is engineering, but I'm most happy when I'm doing something artistic that doesn't put me under any pressure. Watching them wrestle and discuss their matches is always fun for me. And I've finally discovered a career that gives me fun since it allows me to with my dream heroes lifestyle. So, Welcome! I'd love to hear from you on LinkedIn and Facebook.
