Mercedes ace Hamilton plans private discussions with George Russell

Although initially, Hamilton raised a finger at Russell to point out that the whole phenomenon was his mistake, however, soon after watching the footage, the driver calmed down and took the blame as he was the older person in the team.

“I think we are a great team. George and I still have a great relationship. We will discuss things and work away,” Hamilton told Sky Italy.

Hamilton expressed that he was willing to accept responsibility, emphasizing his role as the senior driver. He further remarked that he believed George had limited options at that particular moment.

The British racing driver explained that he had been attempting to overtake both of them and referred to it as an unfortunate situation. He noted having the worst tire among those in his vicinity, which had prompted him to take a significant risk, resulting in a substantial penalty.

Hamilton provided assurance by stating that their brotherhood wasn’t broken, and he had no problems with George. He emphasized their great relationship and the fact that they work together and chat often.

He concludes, “So this is unfortunate and I’m sure he was frustrated at the moment like I was. But we will talk about it offline, and we move forward. As I said, just apologise to all of the team.”

Red Bull boss raises questions about team dynamics at Mercedes

Many are discussing the collision between the dynamic duo, including  Red Bull’s team boss. Christian Horner discussed the collision between Hamilton and Russell, drawing parallels to the renowned incident involving Hamilton and Nico Rosberg in 2016.

He stated “I mean, I’m sure you never want to see that as a team. All you always ask of your teammates is to give each other space and it didn’t seem like it happened today. I am sure they have their internal discussion about that.”

Mercedes did not engage in a serious conversation regarding this matter. Hamilton had already taken the blame upon himself, and George Russell didn’t take it to heart, understanding that such ups and downs are common in racing. He promised to continue battling and giving his best for the remainder of the season.
