If there’s one thing about the NFL, it’s that it gives rise to fiery and youthful rookies every single season. CJ Stroud has been the revelation of the year so far. The young QB has lit up the league with his rocket arm and excellent composure on the ball.
However, his anger got the better of his composure during the game between the Houston Texans and the Denver Broncos on Sunday, leading to an altercation that benefited nobody. Let’s find out more about the same.
CJ Stroud addresses Singleton altercation
During the game against the Denver Broncos, Texans’ star QB CJ Stroud got into a verbal altercation with the Broncos’ Alex Singleton, after which the players were seen visibly animated and ready to get into a scrap had the rest of the Texans hadn’t separated the two.
In the post-game press conference, CJ reflected on the incident during a heated first quarter of the game. About the altercation, he said, “I’m a man, and I’m not just gonna let somebody push me, especially in my house. Like you’re just not gonna touch me after the whistle, which we clearly heard.”
I’m not mad at that dude, I’m really not. He played hard. I just didn’t like it. I gotta control my composure, but at the same time, I’m a man, and as Druski said, I’mma stand on business. I’m glad my guys had my back. I’m not mad at that dude. I don’t get a lot of calls.”
Singleton dismisses CJ Stroud incident
When asked about the same incident after the game, Alex Singleton sang a very different tune. He said, “It was nothing. Just some pushing. I mean, they are going to call it (in favor) of the quarterback. You know how this league is.”
During that play, Singleton was penalized for roughness that wasn’t necessary, leading to the Texans being awarded a penalty. This penalty allowed Houston to gain a first down within the Broncos 10-yard line, giving them a chance to score. As a result, the Texans took advantage of the situation, and their running back, Dameon Pierce, scored a 3-yard rushing touchdown. This extended their lead to 10–0 with four minutes left in the quarter.
