CM Punk has been teasing WWE fans lately by giving subtle hints of his return to the WWE Universe. Ever since The Second City Saint got terminated from the All Elite Wrestling promotion, pro wrestling has been eager to see him return to the company that he left in 2014 out of frustration.
Now it seems the star in question is also trying to make his return to the WWE Universe, as indicated by his recent Instagram story.
CM Punk reacts to the latest WWE speculation
Amid the return rumors to WWE, CM Punk has provided a major update on his comeback to the Stamford-based promotion. Since the past few months, there have been several reports indicating his return, but all of it went in vain as the reports were later proved wrong. However, a recent report from a PWInsider stated that The Second City Saint is most probably going to return at WWE Survivor Series 2023.
Yesterday, in an Instagram story, CM Punk revealed that he is soon going to have a meeting with WWE board members. Punk mentioned two legendary WWE authority members on his Instagram story while name-dropping an old, hyped spot that was known for major WWE meetings back in the earlier days.
“Meeting with Phil Zacko and Jack Tunney at the Chia Club, brother.” Punk wrote on his Instagram story. The former WWE superstar also included the top WWE and AEW merchandise sales. He also thanked the fans for supporting Danhausen.
This was not the only tease that CM Punk gave about his return. Two days ago, The Second City Saint also teased fans by indicating a WWE logo on a fellow commentator’s jacket’s pocket during a live MMA show.
WWE reportedly denies CM Punk links
Since the past few weeks, the rumors of CM Punk’s return to WWE have been gaining momentum, with several new reports getting published every week. However, Fightful Select has previously reported that WWE is still in denial of getting the former WWE superstars onto their roster.
Within the last few days, several new reports indicated the return of Punk at the WWE Survivor Series 2023 Premium Live Event. Even though most news portals are reporting it, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select recently stated in a tweet, replying to a follower, that the WWE higher-ups and members of the creative team have denied his return. The members also said that it would be a surprise for them if Punk returned to WWE at Survivor Series 2023.
“I asked top talent, higher-ups and creative today. None “expect” him back. If Punk were to return by Survivor Series, it’d be a huge surprise to all of them as of now,” wrote Sean Ross Sapp.
Although there is no official confirmation from WWE regarding CM Punk’s return, it will be a great surprise for WWE fans if the superstar makes an appearance in a WWE show after almost 9 years.
