Cody Rhodes backs John Cena’s notion of bringing WrestleMania to UK

Cody Rhodes finally finished his story at WrestleMania 40 and now has embarked on his own journey to greatness. Being the workhorse he is, the American Nightmare made his first title defense but it was in a live event.

WWE kicked off its UK tour on April 17 in Birmingham with a live event. Cody Rhodes defended his title in the main event against past rival Shinsuke Nakamura. Rhodes defeated Nakamura to much of the delight of the fans in attendance but then issued even a bigger statement than his win on the night. Cody said, “The United Kingdom deserves a WrestleMania,” after the crowd serenaded him with a “You Deserve It” chant.

John Cena previously advocated for WrestleMania in London when he appeared on WWE Money In The Bank at O2 Arena last year. With Cody Rhodes making a case for a WrestleMania in the UK, the fans in the British Isles can be optimistic about seeing the event in the future. One more thing fans can be hopeful about is The Rock returning to challenge Cody Rhodes, at least, the WWE Champion believes so.

Cody Rhodes believes he will face the Rock in future

Cody Rhodes recently revealed to Good Morning Britain that he will face the Rock down the line. When asked about a potential match against the “People’s Champ” in the future, Cody Rhodes said, “I want to say yes.” Explaining further, the 38-year-old added, “I think what it will come down to, can I be a good champion or a great champion. Roman Reigns was a great champion and will that be enough to entice The Rock because that’s what’s happening here.”

Praising the current locker room consisting of the likes of Seth Rollins, Becky Lynch, and Rhea Ripley, Cody emphasized the need to keep the wrestling boom going so that he could entice The Rock for a match. The “Final Boss” also revealed that he is eyeing a match at WrestleMania 41 when he shared an update about his post-WrestleMania condition.

As for Cody’s immediate future, his first title challenger for a televised match will be determined on Friday night SmackDown. LA Knight will go one-on-one with the “Phenomenal One”, AJ Styles who will have a feat to achieve along with the number one contender spot. The resulting match can potentially headline WWE Backlash in France next month.
