Colby Covington has recently made sly comments aimed at Jon Jones and Dustin Poirier. The welterweight fighter suggested the reigning heavyweight champion could cause some issues for the highly anticipated UFC event at Madison Square Garden.
Covington has been absent from the octagon for over a year but has been making headlines by engaging in verbal jabs and critiques of various top UFC fighters. Utilizing platforms like Twitter and other media outlets, ‘Chaos’ seems to be expressing these opinions in an effort to remain in the spotlight and stay relevant in the MMA world.

According to ‘Chaos’, the UFC should be cautious about solely relying on a title fight involving Jon Jones to carry the weight of such a grand occasion. The American fighter believes the event’s charm and magnitude could be at risk if they don’t carefully plan and consider other factors beyond just one fight to make it truly special.
“They gotta stack that card. They can’t depend on Jon Jones and you know better than anyone. He’s unreliable. He’s unprofessional. He could get popped for steroids. He could do a glass of tequila and some booger sugar up his nose and he might be beating his wife and in jail again.” Covington said.
Covington subtly alludes to Jones’ previous history with performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs) and suggests that he(Covington) is the only one capable of ensuring the success of the event. The number 2-ranked welterweight fighter believes his presence and involvement in the event could act as an “insurance policy” to guarantee its success.

Colby Covington names UFC fighters scared to fight
In the YouTube interview, the ex-interim welterweight champ didn’t hold himself back, subtly mocking Dustin Poirier as well. ‘Chaos’ insinuated that the former lightweight title challenger had once passed up on the opportunity to compete against him and implied that fear might have played a role in his decision to avoid facing him in the past.
“First it was Dustin (Poirier). They (the UFC) wanted to make that fight. They saw the potential and a big fight there and Dustin’s a p*ssy. He’s scared. He ran away from the challenge, now we know that he’s all talk, he’s no walk.” Covington added.
He also addressed his rivalry with Chechen fighter Khamzat Chimaev saying, “Then it was Chimaev. I was ready to end the hype with Chimaev, but he’s scared. He’s unprofessional. He’s a little dork. He ran away from the division. He’s scared to fight. He talks all this big game online, but he don’t talk inside the octagon. He don’t sign contracts and be a professional.”
