Conor McGregor predicts Alexander Volkanovski to KO Ilia Topuria in round 2 at UFC 298

UFC 298, the first domestic PPV of 2024 in the USA, has an exciting fight card with Alexander Volkanovski looking to defend his featherweight title for the sixth time in the main event. The challenger Ilia Topuria will be looking to become the first Georgian champion in the UFC and also keep his undefeated record intact.

Meanwhile, former UFC featherweight champion ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor had some big predictions for the UFC 298 main event and as well as other fights on the main card of the PPV event.

Conor McGregor believes Volk will KO Ilia

Conor McGregor tweeted out his prediction for UFC 298 and he sees Volkanovski defending the title for the sixth time at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. “Volk will get hurt early but come back and KO illia. Over in 2 rounds”, McGregor tweeted his prediction for Volkanovski versus Topuria.

Volkanovski is coming off a brutal knockout loss to Islam Makhachev at UFC 294 where he stepped in on short notice for the injured Charles Oliveira. Topuria, on the other hand, is coming off complete domination of Josh Emmet on UFC on ABC 5. The pair were originally scheduled to headline UFC 297 but Volkanovski’s short-notice appearance at UFC 294 moved it back a month.

Volkanovski has defeated all other featherweight champions in the UFC except for Conor McGregor and he had, in the past, hinted interest in fighting McGregor. On the other hand, Ilia Topuria has already expressed his interest in fighting McGregor after UFC 298 in Spain, Topuria’s adopted homeland.

Topuria has employed the tactics used by McGregor preluding his fight with Volkanovski and fans have labelled him a copycat of the Irishman. On the other hand, Volkanovski has vowed to shock the world at UFC 298 against Topuria who he finds to be delusional.

Conor McGregor’s prediction on UFC 298 bouts

The main event of UFC 298 is not the only fight for which Conor McGregor gave out his prediction. The Irishman also predicted other fights in the main card except for the card opener between Roman Kopylov and Anthony Hernandez. “Garry is going to run thru Geoff in the first round”, McGregor gave out his prediction for Ian Garry vs Geoff Neal.

Garry, a compatriot of McGregor, is undefeated in the welterweight division and he has a tough task at hand in Geoff Neal, one of the best boxers in the UFC. Nonetheless, McGregor predicted an easy win for Garry. “Costa and Whittaker will have a good 3-round exchange as will Merab and Henry”, McGregor predicted the co-main event of UFC 298 as well as the result of Henry Cejudo vs Merab Dvalishvili.

Robert Whittaker and Paulo Costa will be locking horns in the co-main event of UFC 298 and McGregor expects the fight to go all three rounds. Similar was his prediction for the bantamweight bout between former two-division champion Henry Cejudo and bantamweight contender Merab Dvalishvili, another Georgian fighter on the main card.

Costa has already revealed that he is coming for violence against the Brazilian Paulo Costa. Cejudo, on the other hand, has openly expressed his decision to retire if he happens to be unsuccessful against Dvalishvili. Evidently, Ian Garry has everything against him due to the controversy surrounding his personal life. However, he has the betting odds on his side.
