UFC lightweight fighter Renato Moicano won a hard-fought unanimous decision victory over Drew Dober at UFC Vegas 85. In the post-fight speech, Moicano had a hilarious revelation about his 62-year-old father welcoming a newborn. Former two-division champion, Conor McGregor, who tuned in to the fight had words to say about the revelation.
The ‘Notorious’ is a father of four, with the latest addition to his family being a boy named Mack, born on November 30, 2023. McGregor has three boys and a girl with his longtime fiancée Dee Devlin. Similar to his rival Khabib Nurmagomedov, who deeply loves his family, McGregor shares the same sentiment.
Conor McGregor reacts to Renato Moicano’s father welcoming baby boy
Conor McGregor was paying close attention to UFC Vegas 85 as evidenced by his latest tweet. “Wow! He has a new little baby brother! That’s awesome! Fair play Moiciano Snr hahaha,” tweeted McGregor, who was referring to the post-fight speech of Renato Moicano.
Moicano took notice of the tweet and retweeted it with a tweet of his own. “Mcgregor im your fan… I used to hate you because the trash talk but you change the game I respect you,” Moicano captioned the retweet of McGregor.
Like McGregor, Moicano started his UFC career as a featherweight fighter. However, the sentiment has changed recently, and that has been evident in Moicano taking on the alter ego of ‘Money’ Moicano.
Even after Moicano revealed the birth of his baby brother, he also found an opportunity to troll Ian Machado Garry. Moicano posted a picture of Garry with his wife and child edited with Garry replaced by Moicano’s father.
Conor McGregor has recently hinted at a possible fight at UFC 300 via X. Israel Adesanya has also hinted at headlining UFC 300. Nonetheless, there has not been any official confirmation from the UFC about who will be headlining UFC 300.
Renato Moicano secures win at UFC Vegas 85
Renato Moicano fought in the co-main event of UFC Vegas 85 and scored a unanimous decision victory over Drew Dober, courtesy of his superior grappling. Moicano found it difficult to handle the speed and power of Dober in the first round and immediately proceeded to grapple by taking the American fighter down.
Moicano continued the same gameplan in round 2 but Dober countered it effectively and even finished the round on top of Moicano. However, Moicano took round 3 as Dober’s attempt to reverse Moicano failed, causing him to lay on his back with Moicano on top. The Brazilian secured the fight with top control and ground and pound.
With the victory over Dober, Moicano has set sights on a top 10 lightweight. “Benil Dariush see you in Brazil… if you support Merica… retweet this shit and tag @ufc modafukers,” Moicano tweeted after the victory calling for a fight with 7th ranked UFC lightweight, Beneil Dariush, who is on a two-fight losing streak with both losses coming via first-round KO/TKO.
After an eight-fight win streak in the lightweight division, Dariush lost to Charles Oliveria at UFC 289 and to Arman Tsarukyan at UFC Austin. Tsarukyan and Oliveira are scheduled to fight for a number one contender lightweight fight at UFC 300.
