Cooper Kupp injury update: Rams’ WR ‘unlikely’ to play in NFL week 1 after visiting a specialist for his hamstring issue

Cooper Kupp was acquired by the Los Angeles Rams in 2017 to help mold the team’s future, and with his acumen, assiduity, and exceptional agility, Kupp proved that he was the right option by securing his spot as one of the league’s top receivers. For the Rams, finding him was like resolving every issue in their WR room.

Unfortunately, the Rams have bad news on their legendary receiver’s potential absence due to a hamstring injury for an ambiguous period of time prior to the start of the regular season.

Rams’ HC gives Cooper Kupp hamstring injury update

The Super Bowl 56 MVP  experienced a recurrence of the hamstring injury on August 1 and has been hindered by it for around five weeks, missing the Los Angeles Rams‘ three preseason games in the process.

According to coach Sean McVayn, in comparison to a typical hamstring strain, the injury has been slightly strange. Cooper traveled to Minnesota to see a hamstring injury expert in the hopes of determining the cause of his hamstring problems, however, the ailment’s severity is still unknown.

Cooper Kupp had to have surgery for a high-ankle sprain and missed a substantial portion of the 2022 season; as a result, McVay declared that they would proceed with caution when allowing him to play. Additionally, he stated that a backup plan had already been developed in case they were to begin the season without their veteran receiver.

“I think you just move forward, and you have to be able to operate with the situation and the guys we do have and if he’s able to go then that’s outstanding for us and, if not, then that’s kind of how we’ve been operating,” McVay said.
Despite his injuries, Cooper Kupp caught 75 catches for 812 yards and six scores last year in just nine games.

Rams’ WR Cooper Kupp ‘unlikely’ to play in NFL Week 1

Cooper Kupp’s fortune was tied to injuries from the previous season after a record-setting 2021 season in which he led the NFL in receptions (145), yards (1,947), and touchdowns (16). Therefore, Kupp’s return to performance is the team’s top priority.

The LA Rams have not yet made a decision regarding this, but the head coach said he wouldn’t rule out the pro player for the season opener against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 1.

“I wouldn’t rule out Kupp for the opener,” Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times reported.

ESPN reported that the Rams are waiting for the right moment for him to be able to run at full strength. Whether they have to begin their game in weeks 1 and 2 without him, they are prepared to patiently wait for his full recovery.

Cooper Kupp

“I think the most important thing is that whenever he’s ready to take the field, whether that be this week, whether that be Week 2, whatever it is, as long as he’s able to have that return to performance, he’s feeling like the Cooper Kupp that we all know and love and he’s got some clarity on, all right, what is really going on? I think that will be a really good situation for us,” the head coach said.

Without Kupp, the Rams’ offensive strategies are in peril, therefore all of the team’s supporters are anxiously awaiting positive news and hoping to see him back on the field as soon as possible in his previous destructive appearance.
