Cora Jade injury update: how long will the NXT star be out of action?

One of WWE NXT’s up-and-coming stars, Cora Jade, has faced a setback. Three years ago, she rose to the main roster, despite being a newcomer to the wrestling world. The beloved superstar, however, may be sidelined for at least a year due to an injury.

After Jade announced her departure from the black and gold brand in August 2023, concerns arose about her absence from NXT programming later that year. Following her encounter against the NXT Champion on Monday Night RAW, it was revealed that she had a serious leg injury, which she addressed upon her return to the ring.

How long will Cora Jade be sidelined?

During an NXT house event on January 12, CM Punk’s daughter Cora Jade—who had been out of action for a while—had a disappointing setback. She was seen lying in the ring, surrounded by WWE officials, in photos that went viral online.

Jade’s match against Lyra Valkyria came to a sudden halt because of the event. Afterward, she hinted at the seriousness of the issue by posting a gif on social media. After much speculation, Dave Meltzer confirmed that she tore her anterior cruciate ligament.

Charlotte Flair, Nikkita Lyons, and Sol Ruca are just a few of the female wrestlers in NXT who have dealt with injuries like this in the last year. Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez spoke about it on Wrestling Observer Radio, where they voiced their worries about Jade’s knee.

Alvarez said, “And we do not have an update yet, but said to be a knee injury and potentially serious. And it was her birthday yesterday, by the way. Apparently, she was out celebrating, but her knee apparently not looking good.”

Cora Jade’s injury raises questions over training

Worries over the prevalence of torn ACLs among NXT female wrestlers have been rekindled after Cora Jade’s knee injury that occurred at a recent live show. While she was defending the Women’s Title against Lyra Valkyria in the main event, the matter came to light.

If true, Jade would be the next female star to suffer a similar injury, following in the footsteps of Sol Ruca, Arianna Grace, and Nikkita Lyons. On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez brought attention to the matter by discussing the persistent worries regarding NXT’s training techniques.

They suggested that there could be a link between the tough routines and the high frequency of knee injuries. Several NXT wrestlers have suffered from ruptured ACLs, including Sol Ruca, Wendi Chu, Nikita Lyons, and Tegan Nox.

Oh, hi, this is Md Robin Ahmed, a WWE fan and I everyday go through a slew of popular WWE stories on Sportszion. Watching Big Show's Showstopper was the beginning of my passion for WWE, though I have to say that his Chokeslam is not one of my favorite moves. Over time, my love for professional wrestling has intensified, mostly due to the Shield, and my all-time favorite wrestler in WWE is Big Dog. I would give everything to be able to be within a few feet of him to witness his iconic Superman Punch and Spear. My major is engineering, but I'm most happy when I'm doing something artistic that doesn't put me under any pressure. Watching them wrestle and discuss their matches is always fun for me. And I've finally discovered a career that gives me fun since it allows me to with my dream heroes lifestyle. So, Welcome! I'd love to hear from you on LinkedIn and Facebook.
