Cowboys QB Dak Prescott claims his team’s offense is stacked with guys with ‘speed’ and ‘playmaking’ talents ahead of NFL season-opener against Giants

The Dallas Cowboys starter Dak Prescott didn’t appear on the field in their last preseason game against the Las Vegas Raiders. However, backup quarterback Will Grier ensured a 31-16 victory over the Raiders by recording 29-of-35 for 305 yards and two rushing touchdowns along with two passing touchdowns.

Dak remained unsurprised regarding the Cowboys’ move to make room for Tray Lance. Meanwhile, he seemed very poised ahead of the new season as he recently shed light on the team’s Week 1 match, with a potential hope of creating some highlight moments in the game.

Dak Prescott hails Cowboys’ offense

Prescott said he believes the Cowboys’ offense looks more promising this season with the star-studded roster additions, via the team website.

“Yeah, a lot of speed. You can name a lot of guys. We have a] few guys that have speed but are playmakers. Speed is one thing, but to be a playmaker is another thing.”

The signal-caller said he has been working with his offensive weapons to help them grow ahead of the new season, and expects them to provide him with a helping hand in his spot as well.

“For me, it’s about getting these guys the ball. Whether it’s in the run game or the pass game, or just out in space to allow them to do what they do best — break tackles, make people miss and show off their speed. We’ve got a handful of guys and that’s going to make my job easier.”

The Cowboys’ offense features a veteran wide receiver corps including Brandin Cooks, Michael Gallup, and CeeDee Lamb. Brandin is the latest addition to the team this offseason and brings much more speed in favor of Dak.

Cowboys’ vs. Giants’ match preview

The Cowboys are going to face off against their NFC East rival Giants in their Week 1 match on Sunday, Sept. 10 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Prescott’s squad is a 3.5-point favorite and holds -162 on the money line while their opponent is +136.

Dallas is coming off a phenomenal season having a record of 12-5 in the regular season in 2022 and an NFC Divisional Round NFL Playoffs appearance. Their QB1 is complemented by WRs Cooks, Gallup, and Lamb. In the backfield, running backs Tony Pollard and Deuce Vaughn are expected to showcase more offensive reps in 2023.

Meanwhile, the Giants witnessed a terrible season last season after going 9-7-1 in the regular season and also had to embrace defeat in the second round of the NFL Playoffs. The biggest challenge for the team will be to keep up with the Cowboys’ offense as they miserably failed to overshadow Dallas over the last couple of seasons in this spot. Without having the support of a strong WR room, Daniel Jones might face a rough start against their opponents.
