After securing a huge 43-20 victory over the Los Angeles Rams, the Dallas Cowboys, led by Dak Prescott, extended their winning streak to two games. With the week 8 win, the team also extended its home winning streak to 11 consecutive games, and Prescot even earned praise from his long-time critic, Stephen A. Smith.
However, the Cowboys winning streak came to an end in week 9 as they went down to their divisional rival Philadelphia Eagles. With the loss, they failed to take over Philly to sit atop the NFC East, and Prescott’s heart has been filled with grief following the setback.
Dak Prescott speaks on Cowboys’ painful loss vs Eagles
From being questioned about his eligibility to be a franchise quarterback to being rumored to get a contract extension for his performance against the Los Angeles Chargers, Prescott has been in the limelight for the whole season.
The signal-caller didn’t leave a stone unturned to secure a win in the match against the Eagles as well. His squad had every chance to make that happen until the final seconds at the Lincoln Financial Stadium. However, they couldn’t turn the wheel in their favor and embraced a 23-28 loss.
After failing to capitalize on the opportunity, the veteran said they would look forward to taking good insights from the match.
“It sucks in the moment. but there’s a lot of good we can take [from the loss]. … We’re doing things the right way. It’s just an inch here, an inch there. We’ve got to find a way to gain that,” he said via SI.com.
The Cowboys’ five-point loss on Sunday doesn’t extinguish their division title hopes, but their 5-3 record requires improvement to ensure a possible playoff run. Prescott threw for 374 yards and three touchdowns.
Micah Parsons on Dak Prescott’s performance vs Eagles
In Week 9, the Cowboys suffered a loss, putting them 2½ games behind their divisional rival. Despite the setback, the team’s linebacker, Micah Parsons, made sure to shower his quarterback with praise for his outstanding performance on the field. He also called on the online community to show respect to the signal-caller for his incredible effort.
“Dak is a freaking warrior. That’s Dak motherf—ing Prescott, bro. He’s a dog. He’s a warrior. I have an unbelievable amount of confidence in him. I felt he had a great game. People need to put more respect on him. He outplayed everyone today.”
The NFL community also gushed about the QB’s performance, but some netizens also called him out for his move of stepping out of bounds on a two-point conversion, which could have cut the deficit to three. The veteran also took a sack on the final drive that ultimately turned a 1st-and-10 at the Eagles’ 11-yard line into a 2nd-and-21 at the 22 with just a few seconds remaining in the game.
