Cristiano Ronaldo is ‘Grateful to be honored’ as the most searched athlete in Google history

Cristiano Ronaldo’s global influence can never be overemphasized. Right from his younger years, the Portuguese footballer had a global appeal, thanks to his exceptional ability to keep soccer fans glued to their television screens. Cristiano Ronaldo’s evolution is also an interesting one. He went from being a showboater to becoming the greatest goalscorer in the sport’s history.

His influence has grown over the years, and so has his popularity. As one of the most famous soccer players in the world, it’s no surprise that Google recently recognized him as the most searched athlete in the history of the search engine, something the Real Madrid legend quickly acknowledged on his social media.

“If the last 25 years have taught us anything, the next 25 will change everything. Here’s to the most searched moments of all time,” Google posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Ronaldo quickly took part in the celebration by making a collaborative post with Google on Instagram, with the caption, “Grateful to be honored as the most searched athlete in Google history.”

Ronaldo’s inclusion in the list did not come as a surprise to many, as the Portuguese star has worked his way up to the summit of global fame in a career that has now spanned over two decades. Cristiano Ronaldo’s journey has been one of the most interesting in soccer history, with the boy from Madeira becoming the most famous soccer player in the history of the sport.

At age 38, the former Manchester United star is showing no signs of slowing down, as he continues to go stronger for his club Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League, despite the huge setback their title aspirations suffered against Al-Hilal in the SPL.

As a global soccer star, Cristiano Ronaldo’s influence on young players has always been evident. Many youngsters have modeled their game after the Portuguese superstar, with Alejandro Garnacho celebrating the biggest goal of his career so far with Ronaldo’s ‘Siuuuu’ celebration last month when he scored a thunderous bicycle kick to help United beat Everton 3-0.

Ronaldo continues to defy the age logic, as he keeps competing with Harry Kane and Erling Haaland as the top scorer in 2023 with a total of 50 goals, on par with the Manchester City striker and ahead of Kylian Mbappe.

Ironically, all the players he’s competing with have aired their admiration for him in the past, with Harry Kane recently revealing his plans to learn from Messi and Ronaldo’s longevity. With Haaland possibly out for the reminder of the year with his injury, Ronaldo could very well takeover his competitors for the most goals in the current calendar year.
