Recently, Cristiano Ronaldo was not even nominated for two very prestigious awards which are the Ballon d’Or and the FIFA Best Award. Both are given to the best player of the previous season, and both were won by Ronaldo’s rival Lionel Messi. Many have felt that the awards should not have been given to Messi, as many believe that Erling Haaland was the rightful winner instead.
Ronaldo was asked about the two awards which he has won several times throughout his career. He criticized the two awards, saying, “Ballon d’Or and The Best are losing credibility. It’s not to say that Messi didn’t deserve it, or Haaland or even Mbappe, but the numbers are there and the numbers don’t deceive. You’ve to consider the entire season. The numbers are facts.”

It seems that Ronaldo is concerned how a player that has scored the most goals in a single year was not even nominated for the two awards. While playing in the Saudi league means that he never would have deserved to win those awards, he could have been nominated. Even then, he may be questioning the decision to award Messi the two awards. And this sentiment is shared by many fans around the world, including soccer legend Lothar Matthäus.
Ronaldo has won the Ballon d’Or five times, second most behind rival Messi’s 8 Ballon d’Ors, and he has 2 FIFA Best awards to Messi’s three.
Georgina Rodriguez declares Cristiano Ronaldo ‘the best’
Whether the two awards were deserved by Cristiano Ronaldo or not, one person definitely thinks that. And that is none other than his loyal girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez. She has been a constant presence and support for him since they were together.
Wearing a beautiful and silky white dress, she was there at the Dubai Globe Soccer Awards, seeing her partner win the Maradona Award, the Fan’s Favorite Player of the Year, and even the Best Middle East Player.
After the show, she posted a series of pictures of the two on her Instagram account. She described Ronaldo as ‘the best’, writing in the caption, “Accompanying the best, the love of my life”. Ronaldo even commented a heart emoji to show his appreciation.
