Cristiano Ronaldo continues to dazzle in Saudi Arabia ever since he moved to Saudi Pro League club Al Nassr. The Portuguese forward is still one of the world’s best players in his position even at the age of 38, having outscored European top scorers like Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe this year.
Ronaldo still has his sights set on winning the best trophies at the club. While he won the Arab Club Champions Cup a few months ago, his first trophy in the Arab country, he still yearns to win the league itself.
Cristiano Ronaldo scores a screamer for Al Nassr
Yesterday, Al Nassr faced Al Khaleej at home in the Saudi Pro League. The game started well for the hosts, dominating from the start. In the 26th minute, Cristiano Ronaldo made his mark, scoring an outrageous screamer from outside the box. At first, he used a fake shot to drop a defender down and then casually shot it into the back of the net from a long distance.
But he continued to influence the game, this time contributing to a goal. In the 58th minute, during a free kick encounter, Ronaldo set up a ball to allow defender Aymeric Laporte to score a tap in. It was the former Manchester City defender’s first goal for the club.
The game would then go on comfortably for Al Nassr, who managed to scoop up a 2-0 win to help their charge towards the title.
The goal in the match was the Portuguese striker’s 12th goal in the league, and he is the current top scorer as well, just one above former Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic. It was his 44th strike as well, making him the current top scorer in 2023. It only took him 48 appearances, and he has 12 assists as well, proving he still has it.
Cristiano Ronaldo wants to maintain the pressure on Al Hilal
But despite the win, Ronaldo is not finding any excuses to relax. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has one mission on his mind and that is to win the Saudi Pro League. Last season, he came close but lost it in the last few matches. And he is making sure he will win it this season, even missing his brother’s wedding in an act of determination.
Ronaldo shared a victory post on his social media and wrote in his caption, “Solid win! We keep the pressure on!” The 38 year old clearly has no plans to let go of the chance to go top of the league over club rivals Al Hilal. The two teams are only separated by 4 points, with Al Hilal on top with 32 points. The club, which has seen star player Neymar Jr. suffer a long injury, is being spearheaded by Mitrovic, Malcom, Sergej Milinković-Savić and other former European stars.
Both teams are performing brilliantly and have great squads. They will both definitely fight for the league title till the end, creating a nice and interesting title race.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Al Nassr will have to worry about the league later, as they have an AFC Champions League match on Wednesday against Al Duhail.
