It is seldom that a big star sees one of his family members get married but not be present at that special moment. This is what has happened to Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the best soccer players and definitely one of the most recognizable personalities on the planet.
Despite Cristiano being known to be a big family man, often spending time with them, it seems that he was not present when his brother Hugo Aveiro got married. This is definitely a surprising thing, since the wedding was a grand event.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s brother Hugo gets married
Cristiano Ronaldo has an older brother, Hugo Aveiro, who is a constant presence in his life. The two have been close for a very long time, and Cristiano has been very supportive of him. On November 4, his brother, who has been married to his longtime wife Rubina for 25 years, renewed their vows.
The whole family gathered together on an island in their native hometown of Madeira, Portugal. It was a grand event, with a lot of fireworks and other festivities occurring. But despite the grand event, Cristiano himself was not present for such an important day in his brother’s life.
Cristiano Ronaldo currently lives in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with his own children and girlfriend, Georgina Rodriguez. He has to play for Saudi club Al-Nassr regularly, including having to play today in a game against Al Khaleej, where they won 2-0 and he scored the opener. This is why he was not present for such an important occasion, but the Portuguese superstar didn’t forget his brother.
Both Ronaldo and Georgina appeared to dedicate a video to their brother, which was shown at the wedding, according to a video shared on social media by Ronaldo and Hugo’s sister, Katia Aveiro.
In the video, the 38-year-old said, “Best wishes, I hope you are very happy. I would really like to be there with you in Madeira to celebrate this special day, but we will have the opportunity to be together more than once. I didn’t want to miss this opportunity to say that we are very happy, It’s a long life and I hope you’re together for another 25 years. Kisses to everyone.”
Portuguese star’s brother embroiled in jersey fraud
With such a big personality, Cristiano Ronaldo is definitely a highly marketable figure. Since his jerseys are almost always sold out, the Portuguese star has a strong say in his jersey sales.
His brother Hugo Aveiro manages many of Ronaldo’s dealings, including his jersey sales. It was reported earlier this year that he was involved in a fake jersey scandal and even faced trial at court in June.
The scandal is from Ronaldo’s playing days in 2019, when he was at SĂ©rie A side Juventus. His brother owns a company called Mussara, which agreed to spend $538 million with an Italian company called Pegasus. They were allowed to sell merchandise related to the Cristiano Ronaldo brand.
However, the main issue was that Pegasus replaced the Adidas logo, which was Juventus’ sponsor, with the CR7 Museum logo. The museum is dedicated to Ronaldo, located in Madeira and is managed by Hugo as well. These jerseys were considered fake and thousands of them were seized by the club itself. However, these jerseys were sold by the official museum itself.
Pegasus then said it was Hugo who authorized the logo change, but the brother of Ronaldo denied any such deal. They then sued Hugo and his company, and now it is being dealt with in court with no conclusion yet.
Nevertheless, Cristiano Ronaldo has to focus on his next match with Al Nassr, which is against Al Duhail in the AFC Champions League on Wednesday.
