The Cowboys’ season has seen Prescott bear the brunt of scrutiny and adulation alike. In the aftermath of victories, praise flows effortlessly for the veteran’s leadership on the field. However, when the team falters, critics question whether he possesses the mettle to guide the franchise to a Super Bowl after a prolonged drought.
However, despite the external noise, McCarthy has always heaped praise on his quarterback. He highlighted the player’s status as the most scrutinized signal-caller he has encountered in his coaching career. As the Cowboys winning streak gets stronger, the coach has now drawn parallels between Dak’s current form and the stellar stretches of Rodgers during their tenure together with the Green Bay Packers.
During a post-match conference, Mike lauded the QB’s ability to navigate the field, citing clutch throws and strategic scrambles that set up scoring opportunities.
“I think the situational football really, really stood out. The clutch throws, particularly attacking the endzone. We just got to keep chugging, you know keep pounding away, [in] the run game. So that’s something that you always look at and want to improve on, but I think that the benefits of moving him [Prescott via scrambles to set up passes] and particularly the red zone, on the gold zone and some of the situational calls. I thought he was incredible.”
Unfortunately, A-Rod is now off the football field to rehab from his potential season-ending injury but Prescott is leaving no stone unturned to earn the feat of an elite quarterback like the Jets’ signal-caller. He posted impressive statistics over the past five games: 1,602 passing yards, 18 total touchdowns, and a mere two interceptions.

The Cowboys’ explosive Week 12 performance against the Commanders was a statement of dominance in every aspect of the game. Their relentless offense, coupled with an impenetrable defense, eventually resulted in a resounding 45-10 victory.
A remarkable fourth-quarter surge saw the team amass 25 points to seize control when it mattered most. Prescott moonlighted as a hero on the offensive side by completing 22 of 32 passes for 331 yards and delivering four passing touchdowns. The veteran’s connection with wide receivers Brandin Cooks and KaVontae Turpin for two substantial touchdowns, both over 30 yards, showcased his deep-passing prowess and football acumen.
In the post-match conference, the signal-caller emphasized the Cowboys squad’s confidence in their game plan. He also highlighted their familiarity with plays dating back to spring training.
“We know what we want to do. We know how we want to attack. We know how we want to go at these different teams. We’re running plays that we’ve ran since the spring. Dressing them up different ways, giving them a different approach”, he said via CBS Sports.
The dual-threat quarterback achieved a new feat by avoiding sacks in each of the franchise’s last three games against the New York Giants, Carolina Panthers, and Commanders. This outstanding performance earned him an impressive 97.0 grade from Pro Football Focus. It stands as the highest-graded game by any quarterback in 2023 and the top single-game grade by a quarterback since 2007
