Damian Priest Shares Origins of Rhea Ripley’s Mami Moniker

In a recent interview with “Inside The Ropes,” Rhea Ripley’s Judgment Day stablemate Damian Priest shed some light on the origins of her current nickname.

“Obviously, when Dom [Mysterio] started, when he joined the Judgment Day, she was kind of his boss in a way,’ Priest said. “We were doing all the talking about Eddie [Guerrero] and whatnot and it was like, ‘You should start calling yourself Papi.’ So that was the first idea, but obviously, that’s Eddie Guerrero. So it was like, well, we can’t really just do that because that’s his thing, and that’s completely being somebody else. So I was like, ‘Easy fix – Mami.’ We had the Mamacita [in Chyna], but not Mami. I pitched it, and I think she said it once or something, and it took off. There were signs everywhere [saying] ‘Mami, Mami, Mami.’ So, it’s cool,” said Damian Priest.

Judgment Day stable, consisting of Ripley, Priest, Finn Balor, Dominik Mysterio, and JD McDonagh, has developed a close bond. Priest shared that they often exchange ideas and advice, which is a routine part of what they do for each other. According to Ripley, their bond is one of the leading factors in their success in WWE.

WWE Star Rhea Ripley Discloses the Origin of Her In-Ring Name

In a recent interview, WWE superstar Rhea Ripley shared the story behind her ring name. Known as The Nightmare, she is one of the most popular female stars in WWE today, having achieved a lot in a short period. Rhea revealed that her WWE moniker is based on the legendary horror movie character of Ellen Ripley while speaking with “Allan & Carly.”

“It actually doesn’t have anything to do with that. But it’s funny because every time I post a photo, that’s what people write, like, ‘Rhea Ripped-Ly’. But I actually got it from the chick from Aliens. I looked up bada** female names, and Rhea was the name of a goddess, and Ripley was the chick from Aliens. I was like, ‘They sound great together,” said Rhea Ripley.
