Damon Arnette arrest: why is the former Raiders CB in legal trouble?

Over the years, there have been plenty of athletes in the NFL who have had their fair share of run-ins with the law during their playing days. Often, their status as a well-known NFL athlete comes to their rescue, but on most occasions, the players have had to pay the piper as well as face significant sanctions from the league itself.

As for former Las Vegas Raiders’ Damon Arnette, he has found himself in a hole after his recent arrest. The former first-round pick is now in a position where his NFL career lies in jeopardy. Let’s find out more about this fiasco and if he has had previous altercations with the law.

Why did Damon Arnette get arrested?

On January 6th, the former Las Vegas Raiders‘ cornerback Damon Arnette was arrested for possession of less than a gram of meth and illegal possession of a firearm. He was taken into custody at 3:30 AM and charged with the aforementioned counts.

Arnette’s attorneys have since come forward to specify that they have not accepted these claims and also released a statement that echoed the same sentiment. “The recent report that [Arnette] was arrest for possession for methamphetamines and firearms is simply incorrect,” the statement read. “Our client, at the time of the stop, was unable to provide law enforcement with his prescription for a lawful medication.”

“The arrest was predicated on Mr. Arnette being unable to prove the medication was prescribed, had he been able to do so at the time of the stop, there would have been no arrest for either the controlled substance or the firearms. Our offices are working with the local law enforcement to rectify this matter before any charges are brought by the District Attorney’s Office,” said the attorneys.

Damon Arnette’s previous legal troubles

As soon as the news of Arnette’s arrest found its way to social media, users started bringing up the fact that this was indeed not his first run-in with the law.

One user said, “a Raider was arrested. not shocked at all,” while another quipped, “He’s done in the NFL. He had the ability to make millions of dollars and ruined it.”

In 2020, Damon Arnette was accused of stealing property from an Onlyfans model, Danii Banks. According to Marca, Banks referred to Damon as “the little football player, that played for the Raiders that got kicked off trying to shoot someone or some shit,” when talking about the incident.

The model claimed to have evidence of the heist and also revealed that Damond is known for stealing from girls: “I have it all on camera. Him and his friends leaving my house. Come to find out he does that to b**ches and then f*cking did it to me, ” she said.
