David De Gea was one of the shock departures of the summer when he was forced to leave longtime club Manchester United last summer. After 12 years with the English giants, he was allowed to leave for free due to contract disagreements and concerns over playing style.
The Spaniard is still a free agent, having not chosen a club yet, even though the season has started in full flow. Even though there have been many rumors regarding his next club, the goalkeeper has yet to choose one.
David De Gea raises eyebrows with cryptic tweet
David De Gea was let go and instead a new replacement was brought in the form of Andre Onana from Inter Milan. The Cameroonian goalkeeper was one of the best in his position last season and made many crucial saves in Inter’s UCL campaign.
But he has not lived up to expectations, instead crumbling in many situations. He recently made a huge mistake in a 3-3 draw against Galatasaray and another huge blunder in the last match against Newcastle, which they lost 1-0.
These mistakes have made many fans and pundits alike think that Onana’s signing was a mistake. They believe that De Gea never should have left so early, despite his own numerous errors in goal.
The Spaniard himself took to X where he seemed to post a cryptic message in the form of a cold face emoji. While the message isn’t clear, many fans believe that he wanted to point out the misfortunes his former club is facing amid his absence.
David De Gea not keen on Chelsea move
According to GIVEMESPORT, David De Gea is being scouted by another Premier League club and that is Chelsea. However, the Spaniard himself is reported to not be interested in such a move.
According to the same source, De Gea will not want to be a backup keeper, which is probably what he will be at Chelsea. The Blues already have Robert Sanchez in that position, though they would have liked De Gea as a good second option. However, the 2023 Premier League Golden Glove winner will not want to play second fiddle.
De Gea has received many offers from various clubs, though not from any big clubs. This is mainly due to his profile as an error-prone goalkeeper and his expected high wage demands. Already, the 33-year-old has rejected the likes of Al Nassr and a Spanish second-division side. He is also being scouted by David Beckham for his Inter Miami team, which could be his next destination.
