David De Gea’s wife puts a halt to Cristiano Ronaldo reunion after declining Spanish second division side Eldens

It’s hard to imagine what’s going on in David De Gea’s mind after he was shockingly let go by Manchester United earlier this year. The Spaniard had been in line for a new contract at Old Trafford, but a last-minute change of heart by the manager left him without a deal, which eventually led to his exit from the club.

He has since been without a club despite being linked to several clubs in the past few months, including Real Madrid and Bayern Munich. New reports also linked him to a reunion with Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr, although the former Atletico goalkeeper has reportedly rejected the offer because his wife is not interested in moving to Saudi Arabia.

De Gea rejects move to join Ronaldo

David De Gea has been without a club since being let go by Manchester United in June of 2023. Despite being linked to several clubs like Bayern Munich and Real Madrid in the summer, those clubs went for other options, which left the former Spain’s No. 1 without a club.

Recent reports have linked the former Manchester United to a move to Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League, where two of his former club teammates currently ply their trades.

The Saudi club is home to Cristiano Ronaldo and Alex Telles, but De Gea has reportedly turned down the chance to move to the Middle East because of his wife’s reluctance to live in Saudi Arabia.

Despite having been without a club for a few months, David De Gea will not be short of suitors, and many believe he’s only waiting for the right project before making a decision. He’s also reportedly linked to Inter Miami, where he could join Ronaldo’s bitter rival Lionel Messi.

De Gea’s reluctance to move to Al-Nassr will not stop him from attempting to introduce Cristiano Ronaldo into the esports business after Kun Aguero announced his partnership with Lionel Messi as the co-owner of his esports company earlier this month.

David De Gea’s talks with Eldens yield no agreement

It’s no news that clubs have been trying to bring in the former Manchester United goalkeeper, even lower division clubs like Eldens. The Spanish second division side was in contact with De Gea in an attempt to persuade him to join the club, which he has reportedly turned down.

De Gea is still regarded as a top-class goalkeeper, and it’s only a matter of time before he finds the right project to sign for.

David De Gea was one of the best goalkeepers during his time at Manchester United. Even in his worst stint as the club’s goalkeeper, he still managed to scoop the Premier League’s Golden Glove award, which only highlights the Spaniard’s goalkeeper ability.

His decline toward the end of his United career was largely due to the manager’s wish to have him play from the back, which any goalkeeper would have struggled with.
