West Ham United’s boss, David Moyes, ranks 5th on the longest-serving manager list in the English Premier League. He was appointed in charge of the club on December 30, 2019, and brought with him decades of experience from managing top clubs in the English and Spanish leagues.
Moyes’s tenure at the club was marked by success last season, as he steered them to win their first-ever European title, the UEFA Conference League. Building on this success, they entered the new season with confidence; however, their form dipped halfway through the season, leading to questions about the future of the manager.

Recently, the Hammers suffered a humiliating defeat at home against Arsenal in a high-scoring London derby. The visitors scored six times to secure all three points, outclassing David Moyes’s side in the match. Among the scorers was their former captain, Declan Rice, who joined the Gunners on a $127 million transfer deal.
It was their third meeting of the season with their London rivals. In the earlier two clashes, West Ham eliminated Arsenal from the Carabao Cup Fourth Round, and the following month, they secured a 2-0 victory at Emirates Stadium.
Following the recent heavy defeat, they are on a winless streak in their last five league fixtures, and the team’s performance has raised questions about the job security of the 60-year-old Scottish boss. Consequently, West Ham currently occupies the 8th spot in the league points table, with 36 points from 10 wins and 8 losses.
Meanwhile, the Hammers have enjoyed a successful European campaign, topping their Europa League Group A with five wins and a single defeat. They finished as group winners, securing their spot in the next round and relegating the second-place team to the play-offs.
Former Chelsea boss tipped to succeed David Moyes
David Moyes is in the final few months of his contract, set to expire this summer, and the club has not shown any intention of extending his terms, particularly after the recent results. They have yet to register a win in 2024. Thus, the likelihood of reaching a mutual agreement to sign a new contract seems slim.
According to The Telegraph, the 60-year-old West Ham manager might lose his position if the situation doesn’t improve in the coming weeks. Regardless, potential candidates to take over his role at the London Stadium are already in the queue, with former Brighton and Chelsea head coach Graham Potter among the names.
Potter is currently without a club since managing Chelsea for a single season before being sacked in April 2023. He was in charge of 31 games with the Blues, during which they suffered 11 defeats, and was replaced by Thomas Tuchel.
