Days after Birmingham City FC investment announcement, $300 million Tom Brady embraces ownership role by attending first game

After the legendary star Tom Brady retired from the NFL, many fans speculated him to get more busy with his family. But, he maintained his connection to the field through back-to-back investments in some popular teams across different sports.

After acquiring the Las Vegas Aces, Brady was eyeing to secure ownership of the Las Vegas Raiders as well, albeit the equation got a little bit complex lately. Meanwhile, the three-time NFL MVP decided to shift his focus from a football team to a soccer team by becoming a minority owner of the English club Birmingham City.

Brady partnered with Birmingham’s owners Knighthead Capital Management LLC to become a minority owner and is expected to perform the duty of a Chairman of the new Advisory Board. He would work directly with the Club’s Board as well as the members of their leadership team.

The California Cool is set to work with the sports science department to offer advice on “health, nutrition, wellness, and recovery systems and programs.” He will also work with the Board and the management team to identify and imply potential commercial partnership opportunities for the club.

Following the contract, the former New England Patriots veteran said he would attempt to exercise his immense experience to push the club toward an upward trajectory.

“Birmingham City is an iconic club with so much history and passion and to be part of the Blues is a real honor for me. BCFC is built on teamwork and determination and I’m excited to work alongside the board, management, and players to make our Second City club second to none. I’ve been part of some amazing teams in my day, and I’m looking forward to applying my perspective to create that same success here in Birmingham.”

Besides this, Tom Terrific partnered with Knighthead’s ownership group in 2022 for a Major League Pickleball team. His lifestyle apparel clothing company was also announced as the Official Apparel Partner of Knighthead’s World Endurance Championship racing team in 2023.

After enlisting his name as the owner of Birmingham City, Brady had some interactions with the locals at ‘The Roost’ pub near St. Andrew’s stadium prior to enjoying his first home match against Leeds in the second-tier Championship on 12 August.

Just a few hours before the visit, the seven-time Super Bowl champion posted the news of his arrival on the spot saying, “Any plans before kick off guys? See you at St. Andrew’s.”

The 46-year-old later headed to the stadium where he was snapped meeting mascots and signing jerseys before engaging in a pep talk prior to the game. After the team secured a 1-0 victory, their manager John Eustace had high praises for the retired NFL star saying how his presence enlightened everyone’s mood at the club.

“That is great, to have one of the most famous sporting people in the world come down and chat to the group. They were all very excited to listen to him and he gave us some real good words of advice. I think you can see today his presence at the club (is a benefit), the vision that he’s got for the football club is amazing.”

Whether Birmingham can manage to be a top-tier team in the future remains to be seen, albeit the experience TB12 brings to the club could boost their confidence in the upcoming seasons.
