Days after Chiefs face rainy challenge at training camp, $503 million Patrick Mahomes continues to push boundaries with wild throw

The Kansas City Chiefs are one of the hottest contenders to win another Super Bowl title in the upcoming season. One of the most contributing factors behind the Chiefs’ recent success is their veteran Patrick Mahomes. Besides stealing fans’ hearts with his handsome face and killer smile, the quarterback usually doesn’t fail to leave his charm among sports enthusiasts.

Fans saw how Mahomes appeared on the field like a savior in the final match of the Super Bowl last season and snatched victory by covering a 10-point deficit. The signal-caller does not look ready to stop there and, he is already showcasing some wild moves in the training camp signaling a strong preparation for the upcoming season.

Mahomes’ behind-the-back pass Steals the show at Chiefs practice

Pat frequently tries to come up with some absurd throws on the field and the behind-the-back pass is probably just a continuation of the trend. He even threw the pass at the Chiefs last year’s training camp as well as this year’s offseason program and he did it again in their 12th practice camp at Missouri Western State University on Saturday.

During the Chiefs’ 10-10-10 session, the 27-year-old star made another behind-the-back pass into 11-on-11 drills. He flipped the pass behind his back to the second-year wideout Skyy Moore who successfully secured it and ran for a plus mark.

The two-time MVP earlier revealed his intention to throw the behind-the-back pass before Super Bowl LVII, albeit he said the possibility of making such a move in the Super Bowl is little as he is still hesitant to practice it in big matches.

“It’s for sure going to happen at some point in a game. I’m not going to say that it’s going to happen in a Super Bowl, but I actually do it in practice a good amount. I throw it and complete probably like 80-90% of the time. I’m a little too scared still to do it in the game.”

Rainy training camp day tests Chiefs’ adaptability and skills

The Chiefs were forced to begin their Friday practice indoors due to a thunderstorm. Though Mahomes‘ squad, fortunately, got the chance to head back outside for the rest of the session, the adverse weather is continuing to hinder their camp session in St. Joseph, Missouri since last Monday.

Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com posted a snap of the field condition on Twitter and noted Andy Reid urged his ‘weapons’ to practice on the field despite having rainy conditions.

The adverse climate could create some headaches for the Kansas City-based team as the slick surface might result in severe injuries when players would try to practice at their maximum speed during the team’s drills. However, the experience of the session should be beneficial to the players in their preseason game next week.

The Chiefs are set to kick off their consecutive Vince Lombardi trophies run in Week 1 against the Detroit Lions on September 7. What are your predictions regarding the match? You can share your thoughts with us in the comment section.
