The Miami Dolphins had a tough time during the training camp period as their veteran star Jalen Ramsey fell prey to an injury on Thursday. The franchise was looking to bolster its roster to potentially increase its chances of a playoff run, and the former All-Pro cornerback’s acquisition was a major move to push toward the goal. Meanwhile, his sudden injury prompted Miami to introduce a new member in his place.
The Dolphins acquired Ramsey in a trade with the Los Angeles Rams in March. He recorded 77 tackles and four interceptions in the team’s Super Bowl-winning 2021 season. He moonlighted as a hero in the last season by recording a career-high 88 tackles and four interceptions.
Ramsey leaves field following training camp practice but avoided torn ACL
ESPN’s Adam Schefter tweeted that Ramsey would undergo knee surgery and is going to miss the start of the regular season following the injury he suffered during practice, via league insider sources. Adam also noted his ACL was intact.

Following the injury update, the six-time Pro-Bowler took to Twitter to convey his optimism about coming back stronger.
However, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said the footballer could be out of the field until at least December and Tom Pelissero said he is set to miss six to eight weeks. The 28-year-old collided with Tyreek Hill during an 11-on-11 drill and went down grabbing his left knee. He was helped up by the trainers instantly, albeit he wasn’t able to put any weight on the leg, and was carted back to Miami’s locker room.
Jalen Ramsey’s injury prompts Dolphins to add Eli Apple
Following the Dolphins’ three-time All-Pro’s injury, the franchise added veteran Eli Apple to their roster in a one-year free agency contract, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

Tyreek and Eli go way back as the Cincinnati Bengals defeated the Kansas City Chiefs when Apple was on the Bengals and Hill was on the Chiefs in the 2022 AFC Championship Game and Apple came in the way of Hill to try and stop him from scoring. The duo took digs at each other repeatedly following the incident and were eyeing to face off each other on the field, but they now could be playing together instead.
Following the Ohio State product’s contract announcement, Tyreek tweeted, “Monday practice gone be fun.”

Ramsey knows he is going to miss the drama of Hill and Apple, albeit he retweeted the tweet to remind his fellow teammate to keep shining on the field.
“y’all play nice out there.”

Eli was selected by the New York Giants 10th overall in the 2016 NFL draft, albeit he failed to live up to his draft status and spent two-and-a-half seasons with the franchise before being traded to the New Orleans Saints in the 2018 campaign. After spending one-and-a-half seasons with the Saints, he joined the Carolina Panthers for the 2020 season and later joined the Bengals for the 2021 and 2022 campaigns.
