The Cleveland Browns are currently in the third position of the AFC North with a 2-2 record this season. Following the recent loss to the Baltimore Ravens and with an upcoming match against the undefeated San Francisco 49ers, their potential Super Bowl run seems uncertain.
The Browns offense hit a major blow as their quarterback Deshaun Watson was not able to play last week and he didn’t even practice on Wednesday. Besides that, their star David Njoku, raised new concerns after suffering a facial burn. However, the tight end successfully resumed his game in week 4, and now, he revealed some snaps of the scary incident.
David Njoku documents the healing process of gruesome burns
A few days ago, Njoku became the victim of an unfortunate burn to his face and arm when he was trying to light a fire pit. Fortunately, the incident didn’t result in a terrible aftermath, and his physical condition was declared to be good after being checked out by the Browns doctors.
No one knew the extent of the injury, albeit it was declared to be a small one. On Wednesday, the veteran decided to let fans have a glimpse of his facial burn by sharing several photos in an Instagram post with the caption “Legacy”. Out of several snaps, two images clearly show the burns he sustained.
Earlier, the Browns star hit the headlines by wearing a tan fur trench coat along with a flesh-colored mask, which had covered his face aside from his eye holes. When the team’s players headed to the field to have a warm-up session, he switched the flesh-colored mask to a black one, which also covered most of his face.
Njoku takes the field despite injuries in the Browns’ Week 4 game
Njoku has been an irreplaceable member of the Browns team, and with his feat of solid blocking, he has been praised by sports enthusiasts for being a formidable force in the O-line. Ahead of the match against the Ravens, the TE had 10 catches for 92 yards this season, and hence, the uncertainty regarding his game status was surely a matter of concern for the squad.
However, the veteran didn’t dishearten Cleveland fans when he appeared in the week 4 match and led the franchise in both receptions and receiving yards. Despite the Browns’ 3-28 loss to Baltimore, Njoku recorded six catches for 46 yards. Following the game, the team’s head coach, Kevin Stefanski, praised the 27-year-old for leading the team despite such a significant setback.
“The way he played was unbelievable to me with what he went through. Not just in the pass game, the run game, he was the first guy picking his teammates up off the ground, it felt like every single play. He was a warrior. It was impressive to watch.”
