Throughout the current season, numerous discussions have taken place regarding the contractual status of the Knighted British driver. While hints have been dropped by both Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes about their mutual desire to continue their partnership for several more years, no official confirmation has been made as of yet.
But according to a deleted news post from a publication called ‘Race Fans’, Lewis Hamilton possibly has agreed to sign a new two-year deal with the German team.
Deleted social media post potentially spoils Hamilton contract update
Lewis Hamilton recently revealed that he has not been a part of the negotiations since the very beginning and has been putting his focus on the work in the background to take the team forward.
But recently a report that Lewis Hamilton had signed a new contract with Mercedes was posted by RaceFans. Although the news post has been retracted and deleted, It was reported that Hamilton had agreed to a two-year deal with Mercedes. This would have kept him at the team until the end of the 2025 season. The deal would also have given Hamilton an opportunity to assess whether he wanted to continue racing after the introduction of new engine regulations in 2026.
However, the report has since been retracted and deleted by the media house. Racefans tweeted about the issue and said that they accidentally published an incomplete and unverified draft of an article a few minutes ago. The article should not be regarded as reporting, as it was not complete and the information in it was not verified. they concluded by saying that they have removed the draft article and apologised for the error.
RaceFans posted this article earlier (which has since been removed) indicating @LewisHamilton has signed a new multi-year #F1 deal with @MercedesAMGF1
Assuming either not confirmed or embargoed, major mistake 😂 https://t.co/BCNL3mNtHu pic.twitter.com/L8NTV4xvI5

Mercedes has not commented on the matter, and Hamilton has not confirmed or denied the reports. It is possible that the negotiations between Hamilton and Mercedes are still ongoing. It is also possible that the reports were incorrect.
Only time will tell what Hamilton’s future holds. However, fans will be eager to hear an announcement from both parties soon.
Hamilton finished sixth in Dutch GP despite having “pace to challenge Max Verstappen”
On Sunday, Hamilton made a strong recovery from a disappointing qualifying session, rising from a 13th grid spot to finish in sixth place. However, the seven-time world champion’s performance could have been even better if he and Mercedes had not made an early pitstop call that ultimately put them at a disadvantage.
The Zandvoort race was met with rain soon after its start. The Mercedes drivers were among those who stayed out on slicks for too long, which proved to be a poor decision as the track conditions worsened over time. Despite starting from the back of the field, Hamilton managed to make a remarkable recovery and finish in sixth place. His performance on both dry and wet tracks gave him confidence that he could have challenged Verstappen at the front. However, unfortunately, we weren’t able to see the two compete.
When Hamilton was asked about the race by, he addressed the wrong call and said, “I feel like today was redemption, in the sense of it was terrible yesterday, we managed to dial the car in a bit better today and overtook a bunch of people,”
“I think today I had the pace. I was on pace with Max in the race, we were just out of position,”
“Particularly when we got to the dry, pace-wise I think we weren’t terribly far off. I’m not saying that we’d beat them, but I think we would have been [close].”
