Before Roman Reigns, Jey Uso, and Jimmy Uso, the Samoan Dynasty was represented by Afa Anoa’i Jr. in the late 2000s, who was also known by his in-ring name, Manu. According to the latest news, the former WWE star has been hospitalized and is ‘fighting for his life’ against a complex cardiological issue.
Afa Anoa’i Jr. made his debut in WWE on November 19, 2007. However, he was suspended shortly after for violating WWE’s Wellness Policy. He later returned in 2008 under the ring name ‘Manu’ and aligned himself with Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase. After a short stint on RAW, he was released from the company in 2009.
Afa Anoa’i Jr. hospitalized due to heart problems
According to the description of a recently posted GoFundMe, Afa Jr. has been hospitalized since September 23, 2023, and has been ‘fighting for his life’ due to some serious health issues.
Yesterday, Afa’s nephew Lance Anoa’i confirmed that he was dealing with some health problems . He tweeted, “Good morning everyone! So I come home from Japan to some upset news! My uncle Afa Anoa’i is having some serious health issues! He could use a lot of help! Please help if you can and keep our family in Prayers! Thank you so much #AnoaiStrong”.
At the bottom of his tweet, Lance attached a link to the GoFundMe campaign that was organized by Mike Kleckner in an effort to raise funds for Afa Anoa’i Jr.’s medical expenses. According to the description of the campaign, Afa was rushed to a hospital on September 23, where he was later told that he has developed a severe case of a complex cardiac issue. “His heart injection fraction is only working at 35%, and his heart is filling with fluid by the hour,” Mike Kleckner wrote in the GoFundMe, which aims to raise $100,000 to help pay the medical expenses for Afa Anoa’i Jr.
Afa’s relationship with The Rock, Roman Reigns
Afa Anoa’i Jr. is a member of the Anoa’i dynasty, a Samoan family of wrestlers. He is the son of Afa Anoa’i and also related to prominent WWE superstars such as Rikishi, Roman Reigns, The Rock, The Usos, Umaga and many more.
Although he is not exactly a part of the ongoing Bloodline storyline in WWE, where Roman Reigns had claimed to be providing for the entire family, Afa Jr. has been watching it closely. He even commented on The Bloodline’s situation with Sami Zayn last year, saying that he appreciated ‘The Honorary Uce’. Afa Jr. had also previously said that WWE had reached out to him at the beginning of the year and even stopped by his training school to shoot footage of him.
He has said that he wants to get ‘back on the radar’, considering that his first stint with the company didn’t end so well. It would be interesting to see him as a part of The Bloodline one day. For now, we wish him the very best and hope that he makes a speedy recovery.
