Despite being suspended for smoking marijuana while with Steelers, Cowboys are rumored to sign Martavis Bryant back to NFL

Following his NFL debut with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Martavis Bryant showed exceptional athleticism to solidify himself as one of Steller’s most potent offensive assets. After less than three seasons, the wide receiver lost his allure and was discovered by the NFL to have broken the rules.

After nearly four years, Bryant was given the chance to play in the NFL again, this time with the Dallas Cowboys, as the team’s offense needed more strength after suffering a devastating loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, a painful memory for Dak Prescott.

Cowboys expected to sign Martavis Bryant

The news was first brought to light by the Athletic’s Shams Charania on Tuesday, who claimed that the Cowboys added Martavis Bryant to their roster. The details of the contract are still kept under wraps, while the Cowboys have not outlined anything regarding his signing.

After spending so much time away from the NFL, this is a great opportunity for the athlete to demonstrate his abilities. It will serve as a ray of hope for the Dallas team as well, who recently digested a sly take from the NFL analyst.

The 31-year-old had contracts with two separate Canadian Football League teams for the 2021 and 2022 seasons prior to this move, but he never made a single-game appearance with either squad.

In 11 games with the Steelers in 2015, he hauled in 50 receptions for 765 yards and six touchdowns. When he threw 50 receptions again in 2017, recording 603 receiving yards and six receiving touchdowns, his following season appeared as bright as his first.

The former Steelers player was acquired by the Oakland Raiders in exchange for a third-round pick before being charged by the NFL. He only played in eight games for the Raiders in 2018, despite hauling in 19 receptions for 266 yards, per Fox Sports.

Martavis Bryant suspended for smoking weed

After missing the 2016 season under an NFL suspension, in December 2018, the NFL came out with a bold claim that Martavis Bryant violated the terms of his conditional reinstatement from 2017. It prompted the league to suspend him indefinitely in 2018, accusing him of multiple violations of the league’s substance abuse policy.

Bryant was brought back by the league last week.  Since then, he has paid a visit to the Cowboys, who were among the first teams to express curiosity about the suspended player.

“That’s a big, strong, fast receiver that we’ll certainly take a look at,” Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones responded to this on Monday.

Even if there aren’t any receiver injuries the Cowboys are currently dealing with, Martavisl still has a chance to secure a spot in the receiving group that also features Michael Gallup, Brandin Cooks, and Ceedee Lamb.
