Despite being touted as No. 1 NFL draft pick in the future, QB Caleb Williams knocked out of title race after USC’s loss to Oregon

Throughout this college football season, Caleb Williams has without a doubt made a name for himself among the NFL rookie fans. He seems poised to be the top pick in next year’s draft combine and appears ready to live up to all that potential.

His speed, agility, and understanding of the game are remarkable, and his in-game awareness seems way beyond his years. One thing is crystal clear: any team that snags this young talent will have the edge for years to come.

Caleb Williams performance in NCAA this season

Caleb Williams has lit up the league with his performances against every side this season, the Trojans’ QB has looked to put up a fight against the best in the business, including Colorado State’s Shedeur Sanders, who looks to be a close second in the upcoming season’s draft.

Over the season, Williams has amassed almost 3000 passing yards, and with one game remaining in the season, is sure to achieve that mark. That elusive 300-yard mark will take him right up to one of the greatest college football QBs in recent times.

In addition to that, Caleb Williams has also got 28 touchdowns, averaging over 2 per game. That is surely an extraordinary average to have this early in anyone’s career. It has to be said that Williams is showing promise to become one of the greatest signal-callers of the current crop of QBs in the NFL.

USC out of title race after Oregon loss

Despite a valiant effort from Caleb Williams, the USC Trojans succumbed to defeat at the hands of Oregon State in their last game. This is the fourth match they have lost in 5 games, marking a significant dip in form of late.

“When you play a really good football team like we’ve played the last few weeks, those were the margins. That’s the difference,” Coach Riley said. “Last year, we made a few more of those, it feels like, than we have this year. We just had a few too many key breakdowns that made a lot of these games close. It’s one play here or there — that’s the gap that we have to make up.”

“It’s the first game we’ve played here at USC where we’re out of the championship race,” he added, talking about their next game against UCLA, “We don’t intend on playing any more like this, but games like this show the character of the program.”
