Despite being 38 years old LeBron James is putting in the work for the Los Angeles Lakers. The future Hall of Famer can’t be stopped in his recent games and is showing early signs of a great individual season. However, the same cannot be said for the Lakers as a team.
Despite LeBron James’s stellar performances, the team is struggling to perform in the league and secure wins. They failed to secure a victory against the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday, even after a tactical change by head coach Darwin Ham.
LeBron James sets another NBA record
The Lakers lost to the Sacramento Kings but LeBron James set another record in that match. James made history again by scoring a triple-double and moving to the fifth all-time on the NBA’s most triple-doubles list. He also became the second oldest player to record a triple-double while the first position is held by Karl Malone.
The triple-double feat is not easy to achieve given the age of LeBron. Mr. triple-double himself, Russell Westbrook, who has recorded the most triple-doubles in the history of the NBA, now struggles to accomplish the same feat which had become a daily task for him.
Kings beat Lakers
After a strategic change by Head Coach Darwin Ham, the Lakers were able to get back on the winning side after a rocky start to the season. However, the three-game winning streak of the Lakers came to an end after they faced the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday. The team looked sluggish and lacked the energy to keep up with the agile Kings players.
In the early moments of the fourth quarter, the Lakers were trailing behind the Kings by 26 points with the starters LeBron James, D’Angelo Russell, Anthony Davis, and Cam Reddish on the court with Austin Reaves playing the role of the sixth man.
The turnovers hurt the team and ended up being the main reason for the loss. James was able to score a triple-double and take the fifth position in the NBA’s most triple-double list surpassing Jason Kidd. Despite the loss James was confident and was asked about him surpassing Kidd. In response, he said, “I feel like there is not anything I cannot do.”
