The former Michigan star Jordan Poole’s stint of four years with the Golden State was above expectations as he helped the franchise win its last NBA championship in 2022. The Warrior locker room issues are suspected to have necessitated his trade to the Washington Wizards.
Since, joining the Wizards, Jordan Poole has not been impressive while leading the Wizards. His court performances have drawn criticism from fans and analysts. With the Wizards playing against the Phoenix Suns on Sunday night, Poole had an awkward fall which left many wondering if he is in good health condition.
Did Jordan Poole sustain any injuries after his slip vs Suns?
When things were looking up for the Washington Wizards with a win against the Indiana Pacers, their fortune took a turn for the worse against the Phoenix Suns on Sunday evening in Arizona. Despite putting up a strong fight, the Wizards lost the game 112-108. During the game, there was a moment of concern when Jordan Poole slipped on the court.
Fortunately, he managed to avoid injury and continued playing. It was in the second half of the matchup that Poole slipped on what appeared to be a wet spot near the three-point line. Although he took a hard fall, the guard had no injury and he looked visibly upset due to the fall.
Poole’s efforts were not enough to lift the Wizards, as he finished the night with 14 points, four rebounds, four assists, and one steal, shooting 5/17 from the field and 2/9 from three-point range in 32 minutes of play. In contrast, Kevin Durant led the way for the Suns with 28 points, five rebounds, five assists, one steal, and one block, securing the victory.
With this loss, the Wizards’ record dropped to 4-21 in their first 25 games, placing them as the 14th seed in the Eastern Conference. They have struggled on the road, with a 2-13 record in 15 away games. Their next challenge is against the Sacramento Kings in California on Monday. On the other hand, the Suns improved to 14-12 in their first 26 games, holding the tenth seed in the Western Conference. Following the Wizards game, they are set to face the Portland Trail Blazers in Oregon on Tuesday.
Jordan Poole’s struggles this season
The NBA community was excited to see Jordan Poole giving himself a chance to become a worthy team leader with the Wizards upon his arrival from the Warriors. Unfortunately, Poole has led many down with his awful on-court displays this season, since joining the franchise.
Jordan Poole seems to be too engaged with some off-court activities as reflected in his season stats of 16.2 average points, 3.4 assists, and 2.5 rebounds in his 25 games. Aside from his below-expectation season stats, he was caught absent-minded on Monday night leading to the Wizards’ 142-129 loss to the Giannis Antetokounmpoâs led Milwaukee Bucks, as the clock ticked away and his team trailed in the fourth quarter, he allowed precious moments to slip away.
Highlighting his struggles this season, Jordan Poole must surely approach the season with greater seriousness. Repeatedly, there have been instances of Poole turning away after missed three-pointers or not focusing during timeouts. Despite his performances attracting fierce criticism this season, it is important to note that Jordan Poole has the potential to transform the Wizards into a championship contender.
