Does HOFer Beth Phoenix still have a WWE contract?

Beth Phoenix, also known as Elizabeth Copeland, was the queen of wrestling during her time. She was the first woman to eliminate ‘The Great Khali’ during the Royal Rumble 2010. Phoenix held the Divas Championship for 204 days and is a three-time Women’s World Champion.

Recently, WWE star Becky Lynch expressed her desire to face off against her idol, Beth Phoenix. Some fans have shared the potential that a Becky Lynch vs. Beth Phoenix match holds. In 2017, Beth was inducted into the Hall of Fame, and some fans wonder if she still has a contract with WWE.

WWE contract: Is Beth Phoenix still with the company?

Beth Phoenix debuted on the Stamford-based company’s main roster on May 8, 2006, during an episode of Monday Night RAW. The star retired and left the company in 2012 after she felt that WWE was wasting her talent and would never let a female wrestler rise. She believed that the male roster would always outshine their performance.

This happened before the women’s revolution in WWE. Phoenix later started a family with her husband the ‘The Rated R Superstar’ Edge. Phoenix let her contract with WWE expire and never re-signed a new contract in 2012. Although she made a surprising return in 2022 and had a brief feud with Maryse & Miz.

Beth teamed up with her husband Edge during Royal Rumble 2022 to face off against Maryse & Miz, defeating their opponents in glamorous fashion. That was her last match with the promotion. According to sources, Phoenix is not currently signed with the company, especially since her husband has joined Tony Khan’s AEW.

Becky Lynch dreams of facing Beth Phoenix

WWE star ‘The Man’ Becky Lynch has shared her desire for a future match against Beth. ‘The Glamazon’ once dominated her roster during her tenure, and now, decades later, Becky has taken steps to ensure that female wrestlers are as daring and versatile as male wrestlers. Although WWE currently has no plans for retired wrestlers like Phoenix, fans still hope to see the pair fight against each other in the future.

During an interview with LiveSigning, Becky was asked what her dream match was, “I think it’s got to be in Dublin, Ireland. And it’s got to be in Croke Park. And I think my opponent, it’s a match that I’ve been trying to get for a long time, would be Beth Phoenix. I’ve been trying to get her in the ring and whoop her a** for a long time now and it’s just not happening. And I wanna know why is that. Why is that Beth Phoenix? Why won’t you fight me?”

Becky Lynch is currently set to fight Rhea Ripley for the Women’s World Championship at WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia in April. The upcoming ‘Greatest Show of All Time’ will be a massive milestone for the women’s division, as other wrestlers like ‘The Role Model’ Bayley will also face Iyo Sky for the WWE Women’s Championship in WM 40.
