Does The Rock’s involvement in creatives spell bad news for Triple H?

Dwayne Johnson is scheduled to face Roman Reigns at the upcoming WrestleMania 40. Recently, The Rock joined the TKO board in January and struck a deal with the company to face ‘The Big Dog’ upon his return as a wrestler.

The decision to replace The Rock with Cody Rhodes received significant backlash from WWE fans. Consequently, it was determined that Rhodes would instead face Seth Rollins in the WrestleMania 40 event. Fans are now speculating about the power dynamics between Triple H, the Chief Content Officer of WWE, and The Rock, who holds a position on the TKO board.

Who has more power backstage: The Rock or Triple H?

The Rock pulled one of the greatest stunts in recent times after he robbed Cody Rhodes of finishing his story with Roman Reigns. WWE fans were devastated after ‘The Great One’ appeared in the recent edition of SmackDown, and the American Nightmare declared Rock as the opponent for Roman Reigns in WM 40.

Now that Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, has joined the parent company of WWE, which is TKO, some fans believe that Johnson will run the creative side of things in the Stamford-based company. As Vince McMahon resigned from his position due to a sex trafficking scandal, it was believed that Triple H, who is the husband of Stephanie McMahon, would take care of his father-in-law’s legacy.

However, with ‘Rock in the House,’ things might run differently now. The first significant move he made was replacing Cody and positioning himself as the next opponent for ‘The Tribal Chief.’ When he initially appeared this year in the RAW: Day-1 event, he hinted at a potential showdown with Reigns but never confirmed anything. Now that it is certain he will face Roman, fans are undecided on how to feel.

According to PWInsider, Rock was intentionally given more power by TKO than Triple H. The source confirmed that by reporting, “This was a strategic move to give Johnson more political power overall and to show Endeavor’s faith in his involvement and that even Paul Levesque, who has done an admirable job as the Chief Creative Officer, would “lose that power struggle with Johnson at this point.”

The Rock brings back a former WWE writer to represent him

The Rock vs. Roman Reigns was intended to take place last year at WrestleMania 39, but the plan was never set in motion due to uncertainty. Now that the match is confirmed, The Rock has enlisted the help of former WWE writer Brian Gewirtz to craft his creative direction after his clash with the ‘Head of the Table’. Gewirtz is a former WWE employee and also served as the former Senior Vice President of Development at Dwayne Johnson’s Seven Bucks Productions.

The report from PWInsider said, “Former Senior Vice President of Development at Johnson’s Seven Bucks Productions, Brian Gewirtz, will be in the mix as usual as he is always involved whenever Rock is doing something with WWE as he helps with The Rock’s creative process considering his history as a former head of WWE creative for several years. Some people think he could even be a “Plan B” if Endeavor ever needs to pivot WWE’s direction creatively under Triple H and go with a Rock-backed creative team down the line.”
