After leaving WWE in 2014, CM Punk made an unexpected return at Survivor Series. Punk has made guest appearances on Raw, SmackDown, and NXT; however, he has yet to wrestle under the belt. With the holidays quickly approaching, CM Punk is gearing up for his WWE comeback next week, where he will face off against Dominik Mysterio.
By bringing up a difficult time during Punk’s tenure at AEW, Mysterio is only intensifying their feud, with both already engaging in trash talk about hitting each other, setting the stage for a brutal confrontation.
Dominik Mysterio claps back at CM Punk
Mysterio and Punk have a long history together, including Punk’s feuds with Rey Mysterio in WWE. Allyah Mysterio’s birthday party was disrupted in 2010 by Punk and the Straight Edge Society, which resulted in a challenge at WrestleMania 26.
It has been a long time since CM Punk’s last bout at Wembley Stadium’s AEW All-In. In rekindling their old animosity, which culminated in Punk having his head shaved, he is now preparing to confront Dominik Mysterio.
Punk recently said in a CFFC commentary that he wanted to hit Mysterio for as long as they have known each other. Mysterio noticed the interview and poked fun at Punk’s remarks by asking for a punch similar to the one Punk landed on Austin Gunn in an earlier AEW Dynamite episode—complete with a clip showing Punk’s stumble in a failed position.
A recent long-term contract that Dominik Mysterio inked with WWE guarantees his continued presence for many years to come. Amidst his emphasis on a Seth Rollins storyline for television, CM Punk has joined the Men’s Royal Rumble match for 2024.
CM Punk to face Dominik at MSG
As they prepare for their impending confrontation at the KIA Forum, Dominik Mysterio and CM Punk’s animosity is heating up. CM Punk made racist comments against Dominik during a Cage Fury FC event, saying that he had wanted to face Dominik since he was eight years old.
After returning to WWE at Survivor Series: WarGames, CM Punk has yet to compete in a match, however, he has made guest appearances on RAW and SmackDown. Two bouts featuring CM Punk vs. Dominik Mysterio are scheduled for December 26 and 30, respectively, at Madison Square Garden and Inglewood, California.
