Donald Trump throws shade at Bill Belichick’s struggling Patriots following loss to Saints

Till 2020, the New England Patriots used to make their entry in the list of a top-tier NFL team. Whether in offense or defense, they didn’t show any mercy to their opponents on the field. With the help of legendary players like Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski, the team’s head coach Bill Belichick successfully built a dynasty that ruled the league for two decades and earned a record-breaking six Super Bowl titles.

However, things have now changed, and the once-elite franchise is being titled as one of the worst NFL teams. Season by season, the Patriots are only going down, and their struggle has been so noticeable that even former U.S. President Donald Trump, an ardent Pats fan, took a dig at them in his recent speech.

Trump roasts Patriots and Belichick

During his recent speech in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire on Tuesday, Trump shed light on the Patriots’ recent poor performance by comparing it to current president Joe Biden’s negotiations with the Chinese President. He drew the comparison saying Biden’s negotiation with Xi Jinping looks like his old high school football team playing against a good NFL team.

“For him to negotiate with President Xi of China is like my high school football team playing the, let’s see, what’s a good team nowadays? What’s a good football team nowadays?”

The veteran continued his jabs saying he used to say the Pats were a good team and Belichick was a good coach, but their recent struggle is real.

“I used to say New England. I used to say the Patriots. I’d love to be able to say the Patriots. I’d love to be able to say the Patriots. [Belichick’s] a great guy, great coach, but they’re having a little hard time.”

New England was slapped with an embarrassing 0-34 loss to the New York Giants in their recent match. The former President mentioned the terrible defeat with the hope that Belichick would find out way to erase this misfortune of the franchise.

“What’s going on with the Patriots? But he’s a great coach. He’ll figure it out somehow. He’s gonna figure it out but that was not a good game last night, was it?”

However, the Pats’ recent loss came a week after embracing a 35-point defeat from the Dallas Cowboys. Besides that, they have scored only one touchdown throughout the last three games, and hence, their chance of bouncing back stronger looks nothing but a daydream.

Saints humiliated Patriots on their home field

The Patriots slipped to the last spot of the AFC East after digesting a 34-point loss from the Saints on their home field. With this loss, they also reached 1-4 this season, for the first time since 2000. It marks their first shutout since 2016, and after suffering the worst loss of his head coaching career against the Cowboys last week, Sunday’s loss at Gillette Stadium against New Orleans is the worst home loss of Belichik’s career.

The Patriots’ offense was terrible, and their quarterback Mac Jones was sacked multiple times before ultimately getting benched. The defense lacked a pass rusher with their injured Pro Bowler Matthew Judon. Besides that, the team was outscored 72-3 throughout the last two campaigns, and the struggle is only getting worse day by day.

Belichick’s team will play against the Las Vegas Raiders next week. Now, it remains to be seen if they can bounce back stronger.
