Draymond Green believes guarding Anthony Edwards “has to be” Kevin Durant’s mantra for the series

Kevin Durant needs to be at his sparkling best if the Phoenix Suns have to progress in the play-off series. With his outstanding ball-handling efficiency and scoring abilities, KD managed to put up the highest points (31) from the Phoenix side but couldn’t stand firm against the Timberwolves’ dominance in the opening game of the series. To overcome the loss in Game 1, Warriors veteran Draymond Green suggested a few adjustments that the Suns need to make.

Green, who exited from the play-ins quite early, is now interested in analyzing the post-season games on his podcast “The Draymond Green Show.” While discussing the Suns’ fixture, the Warriors forward said, “What the Phoenix Suns are gonna have to do is they’re gonna have to play KD on Anthony Edwards the entire series.”

The 4-time champion thinks Kevin Durant could step up defensively against the Wolves guard, who tried getting on his nerves in the last game. Green feel this could be the only way to stop Edwards from taking the series away from them.

Green further added that the Suns need to rely on the offensive contributions of Devin Booker, Bradley Beal, and Grayson Allen to succeed. With KD on defense, these are the players who could shoulder the scoring responsibilities of the team. While Dray believes Durant is an integral part of the franchise who has special talents that others want to learn, someone has an opposing view.

Analyst claims Kevin Durant becoming increasingly irrelevant

Sports analyst Colin Cowherd made a bold statement about Kevin Durant while speaking about the performances of the 35-year-old. The Fox analyst underlined Nikola Jokic’s high-level impact on Nuggets, acknowledged Stephen Curry’s immense influence on the Warriors and Giannis Antetokounmpo’s consistency in the Bucks jersey.

However, Cowherd then stated, “As I’m watching Phoenix get rolled, Kevin Durant is becoming increasingly irrelevant.”

While Cowherd raised questions over KD’s relevance, the 14-time All-Star still remains one of the highest scorers in the league and has been selected for Team USA for the Summer Olympics. Considering the player Durant is, he will certainly have some plans rolled up in his sleeves to beat the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 2 on Tuesday at Target Center.
