Eagles’ innovative play raises concerns as NFL GOAT Tom Brady issues warning

With an undefeated record through Week 5, the Philadelphia Eagles, led by Jalen Hurts, are poised to face their next opponent, the New York Jets, in Week 6. While Gang Green will do their best to avoid becoming the mighty squad’s next victim and maintain a 3-3 record, their chances are slim.

Meanwhile, Tom Brady, the New England Patriot, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers former star, has some valuable words for the Philly signal-caller and his team regarding their version of the QB sneak, “tush push”, which has brought a significant success rate in the offensive line of the ball.

Tom Brady sounds a cautionary note on Eagles

“Tush push” is the play where the Eagles’ offense jointly pushes Jalen during a short-yardage play for an almost guaranteed first down. The sneak has resulted in an incredible 92% success rate as their QB has incredibly utilized the play call several times.

With the experience of playing for over two decades, Brady thinks the play is not suitable for the Philly dual threat. During a recent episode of the ‘Let’s Go!’ podcast, the ex-Patriots’ veteran said Hurts might get a lot of shots while playing in this formation.

“The only thing I worry about in that particular play is they all know what’s coming when you line up in formation and that quarterback is going to take a lot of shots.”

No other NFL team has been able to pull it off as incredibly as the Eagles. However, TB12 thinks it can be effective for short-term gain, but the team’s QB might have to face long-term pain for it due to a sudden hit on the shoulder.

“I don’t know how many times you want your quarterback taking shots. So yeah, it’s effective for a one-yard gain but it might be ineffective someday when someone hits a right shoulder of the quarterback because they know it’s coming. So you may have some short-term gain, you may have some long-term pain.”

Nevertheless, TB12 didn’t demotivate to continue their usual play, instead, he suggested Philadelphia to think of a different version of the push or run less than they actually do while attempting it.

“They might have to come up with a tush toss or some variation of the tush push to keep people honest. because if they keep lining up and your teammate’s your quarterback, and even though Jalen is a pretty strong guy, you’re putting yourself in harm’s way.”

The Eagles made “Tush Push” a regular part of their offense in 2022, and since then, they run it 37 times in the regular season. Meanwhile, the push has also become subject to controversy due to its high success rate, with many fans claiming it to be outlawed.

Jets aim for first win against undefeated Eagles

Hurts along with his mighty troops will visit MetLife Stadium on October 15 to dismantle the Jets squad, donning their revitalized black-and-white uniforms. The Jets, led by Zach Wilson, are 0-12 against the Philadelphia-based team, and hence, they will leave no stone unturned to turn the wheel in their favor.

While the Eagles’ defense will undoubtedly miss Darius Slay, Justin Evans, and Jalen Carter, they remain 6.5-point road favorites to secure victory. However, the Jets’ defense, featuring Sauce Gardner, Quincy Williams, and Jermaine Johnson, is poised to challenge the unbeaten squad with their formidable strength.

Nevertheless, the Philly offense has already won 11 consecutive regular-season road starts, and Hurts with his famous QB sneak is ready to blow away Gang Green easily. Though, the Jets’ current starting QB didn’t showcase that much caliber to consider a favorite over Philadelphia, who knows if he manages to give a heartbreak to the Eagles’ fans.
