Despite sitting atop the NFC West with a 6-1 mark, the Philadelphia Eagles needed a win to boost their confidence after the upsetting defeat against the New York Jets last week. On the day when the team was donning throwback Kelly Green jerseys, the fans were having expectations about a big win against the Miami Dolphins, who gave 70-20 embarrassment to the Denver Broncos recently.
The Eagles were indeed able to smash the mighty Dolphins in Week 7 and solidify their Super Bowl run once again. However, besides the intense on-field battle, Eagles rookie defensive tackle Jalen Carter showcased a hilarious act on the field that was inspired by NBA superstar LeBron James.
Eagles’ star hilariously credits LeBron James for theatrical inspiration
In the Eagles’ 31-17 win against the Dolphins, Carter showcased an Oscar-winning performance by showcasing a flop midgame. He was shoving Dolphins lineman Austin Jackson following the rival’s run play. Jackson smacked his helmet lightly in response, but the rookie hilariously took a dive following the contact.
When asked about the mid-game flop following the match, the young star credited James saying the Los Angeles Lakers veteran would do the same if he were in that position.
“I was just thinking about LeBron! I was like, ‘Oh, what would LeBron do?’” he said via Larry Brown Sports.
Despite his incredible performance on the basketball court, LeBron has been notorious among the NBA community due to his unusual flopping. A few months ago, in game 2 of the Western Conference against the Denver Nuggets, fans tore apart the veteran as he intentionally fell and started slipping to the courtside after deflecting a pass from Nikola Jokic.
This is just one of the recent floppings of James. He is even named “LeFlop” and “king of flops” by fans, and hence, it must be said that Carter took inspiration from the right person.
Eagles soar as Jalen Hurts powers past Dolphins in impressive win
The Philadelphia Eagles showcased their dominance in the highly anticipated week 7 match, taking control right from the start. By the end of the second quarter, they had established a commanding 17-10 lead, a significant turnaround from the initial 3-3 tie in the opening quarter. Nevertheless, the Dolphins made a remarkable comeback, leveling the score at 17-17 during the third quarter.
On the day when Hurts’ all tush-pushes worked, he didn’t let the Philly sit with a tie by leading the team on a 75-yard drive, resulting in wide receiver A.J. Brown. The WR became one of the main protagonists of the day by showcasing stellar performance and his touchdown catch from a 14-yard pass ensured a 24-17 run for the Eagles prior to the fourth quarter.
The Philadelphia defense, led by the game-changing Darius Slay interception, proved to be pivotal. In a stunning display of skill and strategy, the team seized the opportunity presented by the turnover. They swiftly converted it into a touchdown drive, led by the exceptional running back Kenneth Gainwell. With a three-yard rushing score, Gainwell carried his team towards a resounding 31-17 victory.
