Eagles new LB Myles Jack contemplated becoming “electrician or plumber” prior to his $2.5M NFL contract

The Philadelphia Eagles starting linebacker Nakobe Dean has already been plagued by an ankle injury and missed some practice sessions as well. While Philly head coach Nick Sirianni didn’t reveal any timeline for the comeback of the veteran, he said the LB would be heading to the field soon. Amid such issues, the Eagles signed the former Pittsburgh Steelers star Myles Jack.

Jack played with the Jacksonville Jaguars before the Steelers and is now going to get included in Philadelphia’s defense corp which includes Dean, Nicholas Morrow, Haason Reddick, Nolan Smith, and Zach Cunningham. However, the LB was going through many dilemmas prior to the new contract, which he recently shared.

Myles Jack considered becoming an electrician or plumber during free agency

Jack stepped out of the limelight for a while after being released by the Steelers in March and he was reportedly thinking his NFL career isn’t not going to be stretched further. According to Zack Berman of The Athletic, the LB was contemplating attending a trade school to potentially become a plumber or electrician.

The ex-Steelers star said despite earning a good amount of money, he wanted to do something innovative, without sitting idle in the home and just wasting what he saved up.

“I like to work. I couldn’t sit at home. I’ve been blessed to make a lot of money. I could retire and sit at the house. … I want to be innovative. If a Zombie apocalypse came, I want to be able to build something.”

The 27-year-old recorded 513 combined tackles, 17 quarterback hits, 6.5 sacks along with 19 tackles for loss, 15 passes defended as well as three interceptions throughout his six-year stints in Jacksonville. He recorded 104 combined tackles, three defended passes along with three quarterback hits in Pittsburgh throughout his 15 games with them.

Details on Myles Jack’s $2.5M contract with Eagles

The Eagles agreed to sign Jack along with another LB Zach Cunningham on a one-year $2.5 million deal. After being drafted by the Jaguars with the second-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, he signed approximately $79 million worth of contracts, with $43 million in guaranteed money throughout his decade-long career.

Myles Jack

Jack signed a two-year, $16 million deal in Pittsburgh last offseason, but the journey didn’t go well as he missed some matches last year after struggling with groin and ankle injuries and eventually got kicked out from the franchise.

Meanwhile, after losing their veterans T.J. Edwards and Kyzir White in free agency, the Philly squad might be banking on Myles and Zach to ensure a potential Super Bowl run after missing that last season.

How Jack’s future journey in the NFL unfolds is yet to be seen. However, his thought of considering a trade career highlights his commendable workm ethic.
