Some fans and analysts alike raised eyebrows about Jalen Hurts’ caliber to be “the guy” for the Philadelphia Eagles ahead of the 2022 season. The quarterback answered his critics by showcasing a phenomenal performance this season. Though the Philly squad ultimately lost the Super Bowl title to the Kansas City Chiefs, Hurts performance was really laudable.
The Eagles are flying high in the 2023 season and thanks to Jalen for playing a crucial role in the offensive side. Except for embracing an unfortunate loss against the New York Jets, the team did incredibly well this season, and their recent win against the Dallas Cowboys in week 9 brought another new feat for Jalen.
Eagles QB Jalen Hurts joins exclusive club ft. Tom Brady
With the Eagles five-point win against the Cowboys, they are now 2½ games ahead of the Cowboys. Apart from this, Hurts earned a new record for himself by becoming only the fifth signal-caller in the history of the NFL to secure a win in more than 25 games since 1950. The feat let him join the elite club of former quarterbacks including Tom Brady, Joe Montana, Peyton Manning, and Jim McMahon, per Martin Frank of the Delaware News Journal.
The Eagles solidified their top spot in the NFC East by beating their divisional rival who are now 5-3. Hurts moonlighted as a hero in the campaign by throwing for 207 yards along with two touchdowns. He also didn’t forget to run for another tush push score to secure a lead for the Eagles on their way to a 28-23 win on Sunday night.
Jalen Hurts’ moving speech after defeating Cowboys
Hurts was spotted wearing a brace during the second half of the contest against the Miami Dolphins. He even reportedly underwent an hour-long treatment on his injured knee following Philly’s recent win over the Washington Commanders.
Nevertheless, the signal-caller doesn’t like gossiping about his injury, instead, he was focused on doing his job at the best to ensure back-to-back wins. With the week 9 win, Philly is the only 8-1 team in the league this season. Following the match, the vet said he is ready to do anything for the city and team while expressing happiness to snatch the win from the Eagles.
“For this team, for this city, I’ll do anything. I’m just happy we were able to come out here and win,” he said via Yahoo Sports.
However, Hurts suffered a scare in the week 9 campaign in the final minutes of the first half when he was hit by the Cowboys DeMarcus Lawrence and wrapped for a sack by Micah Parsons. He was seen stumbling and limping off the field. Nevertheless, the signal-caller resumed his play again and made the day for the Eagles fans.
