Brazil continues to be the birthplace of great players in the history of soccer. Since Pele marked his name in the stars, the country has produced some of the best soccer players ever and continues to do so. Young superstar Endrick seems to be the next one in line.
The youngster is genuinely one of the best young talents to come out of the South American nation. Many European clubs noticed his talent and even fought for his signature. But in the end, Real Madrid won the player and now more details of the situation have come out.
Romano provides backstory of Endrick’s Real Madrid transfer
Real Madrid confirmed in December 2022 that a deal to bring in Endrick was agreed upon with Palmeiras. The Los Blancos had paid his €60 million release clause, of which €35 million is guaranteed and the rest is part of add-ons. He remained on loan at Brazilian club Palmeiras and will join Madrid in the summer of 2024, when he will turn 18 years old. His contract will run until 2027, though there will be an option to increase it to 2030.
Being one of the most exciting talents at just 16, it was inevitable that clubs would be fighting for him. And many did offer him chances, though he decided that Madrid was his future. Renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano recently revealed all the clubs that wanted the player.
Earlier in November 2022, Paris Saint-Germain wanted the player alongside another talent from Palmeiras named Estevão. They offered the club €93 million for the two players, but the club refused. They believed that Estevão could become even bigger in the future, and Endrick rejected the French club.
Chelsea was also heavily interested, with co-owner Todd Boehly ready to spend big. The scouting department had selected Endrick as the next big thing, and the club even invited both the player and his family to London. But again, they only wanted Real Madrid as their choice. It was all thanks to Juni Calafat, the head of scouting at Real Madrid, who successfully convinced the player and his family to choose the club.
Endrick breaks record of Madrid legend
Endrick hasn’t even joined Madrid and is already breaking one of their player’s records. The 17-year-old recently played in the World Cup qualifier game for Brazil against Colombia, which they lost 2-1 thanks to a Luis Diaz brace, who recently reunited with his kidnapped father.
This made Endrick the fourth youngest player to ever play for the senior Brazilian men’s team, and the youngest in the last 57 years. At 17 years and 118 days old, he surpasses the record of former Real Madrid legend Ronaldo Nazario, who was 17 years and 62 days old when he made his debut for Brazil in 1993. Meanwhile, Pele still holds the record for being the youngest player ever for Brazil at just 16 years old in 1957.
Endrick has had a good season so far, depsite some poor form in the middle of the season. He has recovered his form and has once again reminded fans of his immense talent. Real Madrid fans are already excited to see him partner up with the other Brazilian stars like Rodrygo and Vinicius Jr. up front in the future.
