Erik ten Hag talks about Man Utd injury woes
Manchester United have been in a massive injury crisis since the season started. Players like Lisandro Martinez have been out since the start of the season, while others such as Mason Mount, Raphael Varane, who is also linked to an exit, as well as Casemiro have been regularly out. This has not allowed Ten Hag to field a proper team on the pitch, with his preferred choices often injured or not available. As a result, United have had an abysmal season, knocked out of Europe, and losing half of all games played.
After such a bad run of results, United manager Erik ten Hag felt the need to highlight the issue. He said in a press conference that injuries have affected their season massively. “We struggled a lot with injuries. Don’t forget, Casemiro is a huge impact player for us and he’s not available.”
However, he showed some optimism, as he believes the players will soon be able to join the team. And that there is enough time to change the season around. “I am confident, when the players are back, we will have a good and strong squad. Still, we are in a place where we can change this story.”
Erik ten Hag confident Marcus Rashford will get better
Another reason why United are underperforming is due to a number of players not living up to their expectations. Andre Onana, Rasmus Hojlund, and Mason Mount have all failed to live up to expectations. Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford who was very crucial and scored 30 goals last season, has only managed to score 2 goals so far.
The Dutch manager previously spoke about this, saying he may take the hard approach to revitalize him. And now he has come with positive news, and trusts the player to start playing to his best again.
His exact words were, “He’s training well. It can always be better, but I think he’s such an experienced player. He knows how top football works. He knows he has to take the responsibility and I’m sure he will do that and he will line up himself.” Ten Hag also previously backed Rasmus Hojlund to score soon.
Manchester United have a game against in-form Aston Villa this Thursday, and Erik ten Hag will hope for a win to end the year in good spirits.
