The Norwegian superstar Erling Haaland is currently the world’s best striker and has earned a reputation as a serial goal-scorer thanks to his impeccable poaching skills. After missing out on a Premier League move to Manchester United in 2018, the opportunity came calling again, this time with Manchester City, opening a new chapter in his career.
Since joining Manchester City, Haaland hasn’t looked back. Under Pep Guardiola, he has evolved into an elite forward. In his debut season, he shattered various long-standing records by contributing to the club’s most historic treble-winning season. Recently, he rejected a documentary offer focusing on his sensational skills.
Erling Haaland reportedly rejects Netflix documentary proposal
Netflix, the American over-the-top streaming service, is tapping into the sports industry’s potential by developing documentaries and series based on star players, clubs, sports personalities, and their lives. They have been quite successful in this endeavor, producing some of the most popular documentaries across various sports.
Following the recent release of Netflix’s docuseries titled ‘Together: Treble Winners,’ which focuses on Manchester City’s historic, triumph-loaded 2022/23 campaign, the series featured all the stars of the Premier League champions, including Erling Haaland.
Despite this, he has rejected participation in another series specifically featuring him alongside fellow league strikers. According to the Daily Mail, Netflix approached top Premier League strikers, including Manchester City’s ace Erling Haaland, Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins, and Liverpool’s Mo Salah, for a ‘fly-on-the-wall’ series.
This follows the huge success of their 8-episode series ‘Quarterback,’ based on the lives of three NFL quarterbacks, which was released in 2023. However, the 23-year-old Haaland has rejected the idea of participating in a similar project, turning down the offer to reveal his behind-the-scenes life. The positions of Watkins and Salah on this proposal remain unclear.
Manchester City avoid injury scare Erling Haaland
With the club season paused due to the March 2024 international break, Erling Haaland has been called up for national team duty with Norway to participate in scheduled international friendlies against the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
However, he was seen limping out of training in discomfort earlier this week on Tuesday. This could be a worrying sign for the treble winners, who might be without their hitman during the final crucial stages of the season, when their league, European, and FA Cup title defenses are at stake.
Nonetheless, the latest reports should bring a sigh of relief to Pep Guardiola, as the Norwegian national team doctor has ruled out the possibility of a fresh injury setback. The former Dortmund man has already dealt with injury woes earlier this season.
