Errol Spence Jr breaks silence on IG on his defeat to Terence Crawford

Following the emphatic victory that settled the debate about the best welterweight boxer of this era, Terence Crawford became the undisputed welterweight champion, validating his legacy as the division’s king.

Right after the fight, Errol Spence Jr. wasted no time and immediately exercised the rematch clause, as agreed upon. This sets the stage for another thrilling encounter between these top fighters in the near future.

“I’m not gonna stew over it at all. I did what I was supposed to do, regardless of the outcome. I promised everybody I was going to do it and I did it as a man. I’m not gonna sulk over this, I’ll get right back and get to it, hopefully at 154 lbs.”  Spence said in the post-fight press conference.

Spence acknowledged Crawford’s skill and admitted that his timing was slightly off during the match, accepting that the better man won without making any excuses. He expressed hope that the next rematch will take place at 154 pounds instead of 147, possibly offering new dynamics to the bout.

“I know I’m a lot better than what I showed tonight. I know that a lot of things were off with me. Even though Terence did what he was supposed to, he was sharp and he was on-point, and he made sure he was 100 percent ready in this fight.” Spence added.

Despite doubts from many, Crawford’s triumph solidified his position as a dominant force in the welterweight division, leaving little room for Spence to show any excuses for the knockout defeat.

Boxing fans reacts to Errol Spence Jr’s IG stories

After his defeat, Spence Jr. took to his Instagram stories to share his thoughts, and this sparked mixed reactions among boxing fans. Some fans appreciated his sportsmanship and acceptance of the defeat without making excuses, praising him for handling the situation like a true champion while some didn’t.

“I respect this! to lose the way he did in front of millions, would be devastating to anybody psychologically, so whether he fights Bud again or moves up and fights someone else, the body will heal, but getting mentally right is the biggest hurdle.” a user said.

Rocky admitting the greatness of Spence, appreciated Crawford by stating,” I don’t know what fight some of yall were watching but I saw someone totally and completely outclassed in every single aspect of the fight. Spence is a great fighter and deserves respect. Bud Crawford is a legend and deserves his too.”

“Happy to see Spence in good spirits! I’m a Bud fan but it was definitely a bittersweet moment to see Spence down bad like that.” another user said.

James still appreciates the effort Error put in by saying, “It doesn’t matter the best Spencer turns up against this Crawford it stills ends the same. Dare to be great!.”

Andrew seems to be confused as he said, “Why even say then if I had an excuse I won’t say? If you don’t want to make any sort of excuse at all then just don’t mention anything, period. All that is saying is yer I do have an excuse but I’m putting it out there in a way that doesn’t make me sound like I’m using it. ”

“People try to clown son, meanwhile he’s in a very small percentage of people who are down for hand-to-hand combat. Can’t wait for part 2. Still rocking with Bud, nonetheless. “Scott commented.
